  1. Hi Augie, I can only agree with all the plaudits above mate, your doing a superb job and she's going to be a credit to your skills. The windows are great and so realistic and that backside is wonderful, I do love a nice backside. Keep it up mate, looking forward to your next update. Be Good mobbsie
  2. Hi Guys, Thank you all for your very kind comments and remarks, also for all whom hit the like button, it is really appreciated. It's been a while since I last posted and progress has been very slow, whilst my other project has gathered a bit of pace but even that isn't going as quickly as I would have liked. I do however have a bit of good news, I have had two of my builds accepted for display in our local Maritime Museum. They really just concentrate on local history so both builds fit in nicely. They are the Bomb Vessel Granado which was build in Ipswich and then fitted out in Harwich, the other was the Thames Barge Edme, she was commissioned by the Malt Factory back in 1896 and build by a local yard in Harwich. It's only a small museum, it's housed in a Lighthouse in old Harwich Town. With regard to the progress on Aggy, the snaking is all complete and I have finished the Crowsfeet on all three masts. I have also redone the timberheads either side of the Bowsprit and fitted the seats of ease. Pictures will follow soon. Be Good mobbsie
  3. Superb work Remco, exactly the standard we've come to expect and you never disappoint. Be Good mobbsie
  4. Even at that size he puts me to shame. Lovely bit of work there Matti, well done mate. Be Good mobbsie
  5. Welcome to the club Pierre, I've forgotten how many times my fingers have been glued together with that stuff. A little or a lot of nail varnish remover will do the clean up for but my guess is that you already know. A word of warning my friend, on page 9 of the manual under the heading "Hull Side Fittings" it mentions the Bow Timber Heads, it tells us to drill a 2mm hole to take the Main Stay Collar, this is the only mention of this, on sheet plan 9 there is a diagram showing the Bow Sprit and how the Collars ( Main & Preventer ) fit around it. There is no further mention of using the Timber Heads at all. I have just ripped out my old Timber Heads and replaced them with new undrilled ones, also there are two eyebolts in each Timber Head, it's going to be a lot easier to fit these before you place the Timber Heads onto the ship. Hope this is a help as you get further into your build. Hopefully Klaas will read this too. Be Good mobbsie
  6. From what I can see Adriaan she's looking superb, nice bit of planking mate, just take your time and you will get it as you want it. Be Good mobbsie
  7. Looking fantastic Grant, bet you found those little arrows getting in the way though. After all this time the finish line is looming, your either going to feel elated or sad when she's completed.  Question, do you have any Crows Feet to go on her ?. I've done mine but I'm not sure of it's too early, we'll see. I've decided it's going to be the DB250 Wood Lathe mate, with all the other toys I want to get my pocket isn't deep enough, hard fact of life I'm afraid. Be Good mobbsie
  8. Sjors understands pfffffffffff, Augie, she's looking great, well done mate. Nothing to do with the stern is easy, from the transom to the quarter galleries but you have mastered it beautifully. Be Good mobbsie
  9. Wow, Popeye, she's looking absolutely brilliant. Haven't looked in for a while although I have been getting your notifications. The bow sections have come together very well and you should be well chuffed, the mast look fine to me and not at all stunted, with regard to your crows nests they have a weathered look about them but if your not happy with them you could always paint them black, just a suggestion. The color scheme looks great, that green looks like a sage green and as you say is a very close match with the real ship. Altogether your onto a winner here mate, be proud of her mate she's coming on nicely. Be Good mobbsie
  10. Hi Sjors, This bend is positively the hardest part of both planking's and I must say your doing a very good job. :) Now's the time to start trimming the remainder of the planks to fit the stern counter mate, believe me you will soon get into trouble if you don't. Speak to you later Be Good mobbsie
  11. Hi Dragzz, She looks to be a nice kite mate. Take your time with her and do her justice, help and advice is just a keyboard away. I'm going to follow your journey if you don't mind. Be Good mobbsie
  12. Hi Pierre, Good to have you back in the shipyard mate. Been a while. Your stern galleries are coming along nicely mate and are looking good, their not as easy as you think and do require a lot of attention. It's good to know she still has a sting in her tail though. Your outside pics of her are really good and show just what a big beast she is. Keep up this splendid work. Be Good mobbsie
  13. And so the new journey begins, good luck with her although I feel your not going to need it. I'm going to come along for the ride and no doubt I will learn quite a lot. Well done on Niagara Patrick, she's a credit to you. Be Good mobbsie
  14. Afternoon Grant, Very nicely done mate and very well explained to boot. Here's hoping you don't have any more little problems and that it's all plain sailing from here on.
  15. Wow, she coming to life Popeye, those masts make such a difference. Could you place a pin into the bottom of your mast to stop it from moving around when in position if you don't have a shoe for it. Just a thought. Your doing a great job mate. Be Good mobbsie
  16. So, your also getting into making horseshoes are you !!!!!!!!!!! I much prefer deck coits, not so noisy. :D I'm watching. Be Good mobbsie
  17. She's a real beauty Patrick, be proud mate, be very proud. I hope you have enjoyed your journey as much as those of us who followed you. I will join Sjors and no doubt many others when you begin your Connie, good luck with her. Be Good mobbsie
  18. I'm gonna watch this with a great deal of interest, never seen it done before. Good luck Mark although you wont need it, you've seem to have it pretty well covered and you have a lot of expert help ready in the wings. Be Good mobbsie
  19. I've had to turn our heating off it's been that warm of late, I don't envy you guys one little bit. Popeye we have a saying over here, you've probably heard it, " it's cold enough to freeze the b-lls off a brass monkey" with no boiler for a while mate have you still got yours. She's coming along really nicely mate, all the little bits are great and I like the highlight bandings, well done with the crows-nests also, your patience and determination to get it right has paid of in bucket loads. Be Good mobbsie
  20. Hey Patrick, Who am I to disagree with such high ranking comments, I can only agree mate, fantastic work. Be Good mobbsie
  21. Hi Grant, I like B.E.'s suggestion mate but if you could just give us a picture of the offending area that may help us help you. Be Good mobbsie
  22. Great work Matti, I love what you are doing here, it's very impressive. Be Good mobbsie
  23. Hi Patrick, That is praise indeed, thank you. If I can emulate the work you are doing on your Victory I will be very happy indeed. Be Good mobbsie
  24. Hi B.E. Thanks for the good words mate and you are absolutely right, It's not you who's had the senior moment but me, it was Arthur ( AEW ) who made that post, thank you for putting me right, if only all mistakes were as easy to fix. I do want to thank you though for the reviews you did with the Proxxon tools, very thorough and informative. I am thinking of getting some new toys and they were a big help. Be Good mobbsie
