  1. That looks a very nice little figure - and I mean little if that's a No. 11 scalpel blade in the photo. How big are these nuts? John
  2. Just catching up, Bob. That's one very pretty yacht and will make a fine model! John
  3. Best of lick with the desktop, Michael. In the meantime - just keep making shackles! John
  4. If you have all your stuff stewn over the chart table I bet your 2nd mate gets p....d off when he wants to work on the charts! John
  5. I don't build in styrene, Tom, but I don't see why the wheelhouse couldn't be made from one piece with a little judicious heating. John
  6. Thanks for the overall view of the model, Tom. She's really looking good! John
  7. Why have I only just come across your beautiful build, Bob? Delighful work, mate! John
  8. Nice sails, Popeye and yes, the reef lines should be on both sides of the sail as you said. John
  9. Daddy's Girl was certainly a step up, Scott, but I must say hios first boat is more like what I thought an American shrimp boat would look like! John
  10. Great pictures of your dad's boat, Scott - and I love the one of you at 16 with your dad. The model is coming along really well. I'm looking forward to seeing your updates. One thing about building your model on board - no one is going to tell the Old Man, "Hey, you can't leave that thing there!" John
  11. Certainly will stay tuned as you take up the 'Druxey pin challenge'.! John
  12. Thay look really good, Augie. Can't wait to see them sent aloft! John
  13. Michael, As the knee has to be shorter, it might look better if you made it taller to compensate. John
  14. That's a great set of pictures, Michael - and a pawl set up that I haven't come across before! John
  15. Steve, In this close up of the windlass on a small British coaster you can clealy see the anchor cable around what are also clearly wooden staves on the drum. It sounds crazy, but there you go! Michael, it this photo you can see that the post is almost touching the windlass. John
  16. Yeah, Michael - that looks more 'conventional'! John
  17. A brave move, but I bet you feel a lot happier now that you've done it, Alexandru! John
