  1. what! why the party's just begun! ..........and your finished how did you make the paddle wheel? the stacks? ........I dunno........doesn't seem like a complete build log to me. of course I'm fool'in around, but if you could elaborate on these points......I think folks here would love to read it it's an amazing model keith....no doubt about it. from the push pin railings {is that what those are?}, to the futuristic design......you've definitely built a winner beautiful job my friend!
  2. sorry to hear of your computer problems..........good that you have them all squared away masting and sails look great....definitely will compliment the sweet look'in hull you created!
  3. catching up Tom.........very nice progress you've made on the hammock cranes. very well done. quite envious of your condo pictures
  4. I got a little further.........added some brackets for lights. still more to add.........thanks for look'in in
  5. hello all.........I finally found some time at the table. actually, it was a bit of a shake - up.........I wanted to bring the trawler back to the table, to work on the mast........but the tree boat was just going on.......and on.......and on. other projects on the home front began to creep in, and soon, I found myself in limbo a couple 'o weeks 'o that though, an' it was all I kin stand!........so, I pulled out my savior.....the Midwest 'Chesapeake Bay Flattie' kit I've had stashed in my closet! I'd bring it out and tinker with it from time to time.........never putting cement to it, but piecing things together and figuring out how to best save the parts panels, so I can reuse them {you know how I roll }. so.......while I'm toying with it, I've done some work to the mast I was not convinced I wanted to do a top for the first step, but I changed my mind........it will have one. I used the arms for the boom rigging, as support braces. with the mast in place on the Syborn, I no longer have to wonder which side of the mast, is the front. a front piece was cemented on to cap it off. there is more that will be added, but it's a good start. in my messing around with her again........I'm thinking the gallows are out of scale. I may make some new ones
  6. nice job with the touch ups and home reno..........good to see a satisfactory resolve on both fronts
  7. just look'in in on your top notch progress Nils...........really super. have to agree with you on the museum thing.........I have a hard enough time pleasing the admiral
  8. .......just catching up my friend. I can't come up with a word to describe.........you have gone over the top with her......she is just so awesomely fantabulous! ....stupid spell check...........there is no word like that......I just created it so many multi layers of detail........it hard to fine the central focal point! great job Patrick! oh BTW........cool article {short but sweet}........funny thing....I'm into the study of Lepidoptera. in my younger days, I've run a couple of species through their life cycle.......very interesting to watch
  9. amazed at the progress you have made you could have stopped with the saw horses.......and the diorama would have been fantastic! you've done a super job! the build is coming along great.........just goes to show the true depth of your imagination never stop to amaze!
  10. I see your shooting for the other end of the spectrum...........don't think you'd want to go any larger than your sub looking forward in seeing your next project
  11. just checking in my good friend............have you and the crew made any more progress, or is she finished? I managed to get the photo etch for mine, still in the box........but it's getting harder and harder to keep her there.
  12. oh ...my Piet........the diorama came out really super! such a cool looking project WOW!
  13. thanks Lawrence........it been quite some time to find just the right model to use those half round strips on. they were part of the odds and ends that were in that box that Tom sent me. they would be found in the Billing's kit of the Slo-mo-sion.......I also have the mahogany strips too for the kit. what makes them pop, is the white background........anything against white will give the same contrast. I just love how it came out now to get some of the good stuff on her....and on the Jingle Belle too ! Hello Kees! glad to see you here I hope you've been at the table......even for short jaunts. I'm waiting to see that ship of your come together! thanks for the good word Kees and Lawrence...and also to you folks who hit the like button!
  14. rope stropping looks fine my admiral like the little imperfections too......she's always telling me that. it gives it that human touch.......otherwise spoiled if it were perfect. now......close your eyes, and click your heels three times.........and say....."it's a sweet 'lil boat.......it's a sweet 'lil boat.... remember one thing.........if nothing is mentioned, few will notice
  15. looks pretty darn good to me too Bug .....lots of parts that had to be made. I like the decorative detail you put into the outer rails.......are you putting some of that frieze work on there too? gonna look sweet if you do sadly, back to work for me as well.......>sigh<.........didn't get as much table time, as I would have liked. very glad to see you did though
  16. super job Primey........I'm not sure how long the hull is........coppering is usually supplied in larger vessel kits. I have the Sergal Thermopylae in 1:128 scale......they show a painted bottom. I'd really like to try coppering it, but like you, I've never done it before either. I'm not too worried......I have plenty of copper paint don't beat yourself up too bad .........if not on this one, shoot for another kit later on. try a mock test on some scrap, just to get an idea of how it will look. I will probably do the same....scale is going to be my biggest hurdle
  17. she looks great Casey....this will be the perfect log to follow, when I get 'round to build'in mine congratz on her finish !
