  1. Doesn't that translate out to "keep it clean or the Admiral will have your head"?
  2. Sounds good. I love it when a great plan comes together.
  3. Welcome to MSW. You've done very well on that model.
  4. To help you, if you go to the top of the Kit Build Logs first page, there's an index. Download the PDF and you'll see all the logs. There is a new one coming out, but I'm not sure when as it's been promised for a few years now.
  5. I really have no first hand knowledge. Only what I've seen in some logs.
  6. What the others said. Take a deep breath and just relax, this isn't rocket science unless your model is a rocket. Start a log and let us look over your shoulder. I daresay that probably 90% of us had no idea what we were doing when we started our first build. For many, there was no internet and no MSW to help.
  7. You did a great job, Eric. I tip my had to you as I think you're one of a very tiny percentage to actually get one of these done and looking good.
  8. Happy Birthday, Kevin. I'm with the others, she looks great.
  9. Quite a few members use liver of sulphur. The advantage is that you can brush it on, when it's black enough rise it off. It won't discolor the wood. One of our builders who's done a few books uses it exclusively... EdT.
  10. You're model is a thing of beauty. The detail is amazing. There is already a topic for our workshops here: Just trying to help so can see where others are generating sawdust.
  11. Welcome to MSW, Devin. You model looks pretty good. A lot better than my first wooden one.
  12. I guess a kick start is needed then...... He did that one also... https://modelshipworld.com/topic/10828-protected-cruiser-varyag-by-rgl-finished-artwox-1350-plastic-resin-and-photoetch/?tab=comments#comment-327892 And there's also one in Scratch Build area (not by RGL) I think my work at creating mayhem in the ranks is done. I'll wander off now.
  13. For the ribs, soak and then use a curling iron to bend them. That worked for me. After that point.... things went really down hill, really fast.
  14. If you can't get out to a store, there's these folks online: http://www.nationalbalsa.com/ Scroll down to plywood on the left. You might try (and say this relunctantly) dipping into some water and then using a curling iron (keep it moving and work both sides) to see if you can bend it back. Sometimes it works, sometimes things just go down in a handbasket.
  15. The next is one I was suggesting. The Granado from everything I've read is a pretty good kit.
  16. My apologies. I thought I had a good amount on hand and nada in those sizes and colors. Make a new post asking if anyone has those sizes. Heaven knows there's enough AL kits still floating around. Edit. I did a quick Google. Use "artesania latina" and "parts" or "rigging". There's still places selling it.
  17. I suppose I need to post a disclaimer... I usually work at 1/64 and when I caulk I use the pencil method. I did a 1:48 cross-section and I used the marker pen.
  18. That's excellent news on the photo etch replacement, Art. And thanks for the education on erosion.
