  1. It got my curiosity up.. Goggled "Dr. Brodum" "botanical syrup" 1800 . The good doctor wasn't a doctor and his name wasn't Brodun but Issachar Bear Cohen. Some of the ingredients he used would get probably 20 years in prison.
  2. Keith, are these fore and aft? I'm thinking lifting lugs when they need to pull the boat out of the water.
  3. I used MK boat (1/74 if I remember right) for my Licorne build. I did rescale the plans and then cut the parts for boat.
  4. I hope you'll open a log for it.
  5. Wonderful work on her, Edward. Pity it has to go into storage.
  6. Welcome to MSW, James. Doing a build log is one of the best tools. Have a look here at the first four topics. It should give you an idea of the essentials and the ones not to buy. http://modelshipworldforum.com/ship-model-materials-and-tools.php
  7. That you and your family are not infected is good new, Jack. I hope it remains that way.
  8. I looked at the picture before reading the text and the only thing I could think was... "Ow.. that's gotta' hurt". The shields and crew are coming along nicely.
  9. Vladimir, I hope these links will help... There might be more as just searched using "cutty sark" and "photos". https://modelshipworld.com/topic/23303-cutty-sark-photos-of-the-real-ship-taken-while-visiting/ https://modelshipworld.com/topic/21326-on-board-of-the-cutty-sark https://modelshipworld.com/topic/6858-revealing-cutty-sark-pictures-you-may-not-have-seen-yet You might also check the various build logs on the Cutty Sark.
  10. You could also use an alligator clip. They pull the heat off also and pretty quick.
  11. Eric, If you know how long you the boats, then you'll know for the kit. MS makes some and so does MasterKorbel. I think the MS would work just due to the design where the MK would be best for frigate unless heavily modified. As for MS, if they don't have the size you need, if you have a scanner you can scan the parts and then scale them to the size you need.
  12. Mark, The simple way to think of it is... two angles... the deck for inside, and the sheer for outside. I don't remember who but this was pointed out when I did Licorne. Sadly, I just remembered that even though I've been watching this whole time.
  13. Wait.. What? No time off for good behavior??????
  14. Hi Paul, Welcome to MSW. Nice work on the boat.
  15. Check here: https://www.syrenshipmodelcompany.com/ You might consider a ropewalk if you'd like to make your ownl.
  16. Well that should work. Less noisy than a mine field.
  17. Don't know if this will help....
  18. The more things change, the less they really do.
  19. Jack, When you're done with the bird, unless it's in a case, hang a sigh with something like "Do not touch. The rotors do not turn. " And maybe some threatening words like they will suffer extreme harm from you fearless watch dogs.
  20. Al, Here's a link where there's several articles on tools needed, tools to ignore, etc.: http://modelshipworldforum.com/ship-model-materials-and-tools.php
  21. I have no idea. When I built my CH-53, I looked for after market parts. I ended up overseas in eastern Europe. There's a caveat to this... the CH-53 is NOT a popular model so after market would be hard to find. Edit: I see you started a separate topic for this question. I was going to suggest it but you beat me to it.
  22. Most don't use thread for caulking because of the shredding. They paint (or use a black "magic" marker) on the side of the plank before installing it.
