  1. PE is magnetic? I didn't know as I thought it was brass.
  2. For watering down PVA, 50-50 mix is a good starting point. Might need to go to 75 (glue) and 25 (water).
  3. Tony, I suggest you start a build log in the kit area. It's a great way to get help and also it becomes a source other might build this model.
  4. As I recall from years ago visiting it, the AF Museum in Dayton had several German aircraft as well as some Italian. I should add.. from both WWI and WWII.
  5. You are still a better man than I, sir. I gave up on the fiddly photo etch I had. Wasn't much but still.... The only think I learned is that for the small fiddly bits is take a small dowel or toothpick and dip the end in melted candle wax. When cool, use it to pick up the fiddly bits.
  6. Yes, drill a small hole and put the eyebolt into it. I use CA glue to hold it place, others use epoxy.
  7. Have a look at the pinned articles at the top of this sub-forum: https://modelshipworld.com/forum/14-building-framing-planking-and-plating-a-ships-hull-and-deck/ You'll get several ways of bending wood as well as planking the ship.
  8. Blocks could be attached to eyebolts or rigged to the masts/yards using rope.
  9. Hi Wahka, You'll find that double planking is only done on some kits... probably more than I can think of. This was done so that a novice builder could use the first planking to get the shape and second planking to make it look nice. Also, many of the older kits just aren't that accurate to begin with. So, use the wood you want for the second layer. If you want to bash it some more, research and add to it to improve the accuracy. But most important... enjoy yourself and the hobby.
  10. Wahka, I'll add to what Chris said and suggest you open a log. Not only will you get help, but you'll be helping others.
  11. Nice work, Denis. Came out looking the bees knees. The Brits and the US also had quite a few German aircraft also so it could go the other way as far as models.
  12. Welcome to MSW. I can't help either except to suggest that maybe you can cut a new plank from the scrap the kit left behind.
  13. Well that's only part of what a log will do. It'll also get you help from other watching the build. A win-win situation.
  14. No necromancy Denis, except the guns. The butchering concept to me is getting things to fit together. A bit of hack and paste, sanding, reshaping.... I got really bogged down with the ramp area. Still not perfect but it's close now.
  15. For a hundred missions, she probably went through at least 4 total crews.......
  16. I'm not at this point as I haven't checked the fit as yet. Besides it's "Bashing" for everyone else, for me it's "Butchering".
  17. Thanks for the ideas, gents. I mounted the rear ramp and door... not glued yet though as I'm sorting that part out. I'm thinking either fully closed or maybe the top panel fully open and the ramp half open or even full up. I also started filling in the gaps.... tomorrow sanding. And before I repaint the filled gaps, I need to check the fit of a few pieces just in case I need to butcher things.
  18. Discretion being the better part of valor, I won't say anything else other then to suggest you start a build log.
  19. Not intentional Lou. But I too like the way the finish looks. I may or may not add some "weathering" if I can figure out how to do it. Didn't get much done today as doc said today is physical checkup day with labs and tests scheduled. So I went. I'm still sorting how to fix seams and also put on the cargo doors on the rear. I have a feeling that the instruction book will be ignored for this step.....
