  1. On the hammocks in the Kearsarge... Blankets in there? I thought I read somewhere about clothing being put in the roll, usually during inspections as opposed to having them on the berth deck. There's more to this than meets the eye... it's obviously some sort of inspection, review, or visiting dignitary type thing. Also the hammocks are as you say pretty willy-nilly and piled higher than the bulwarks almost to the point of falling overboard. Obviously not the normal stowage. Would the hammocks normally be rolled lengthwise and bent in half? Or rolled width wise and stood on end?
  2. That was so bad it's good... wish I give you more likes for the "Thole man"... :D
  3. Jesse, You're off to a good start. Those frame pieces are delicate and I don't think you'll find a modeler anywhere who hasn't broken some off. Now if they made the bulkheads from cast iron... they might not break.
  4. Well done, Sam. I'm glad it's sorted out and working. A side benefit is that the lower the voltage, the longer the LED's will last... and less heat in the closed spaces.
  5. This is one.. the "older version" heh heh.... http://zombiedrive.com/ford/2006/ford-gt.html I prefer the classice GT40 look. As for Ford.. uh-yeah.. I'm an old Chevy racer. But I've always loved the look of the GT40. There's a couple of car topics in Shore Leave so if you want, let's continue it there. Back to planking and watching glue dry....
  6. Vaddoc, Here's my thoughts just from looking at the photos... If you're painting it, than sanding and filler will be good. If you're weathering it, after painting, it won't take much. Not trying to be insulting, so I hope you don't take it that way. I like the way it looks now and would weather it, but that's me.
  7. Sam.. Try hooking them in series... center tap to LED and one end of the pot to the power. Forget going back to ground. You will get feedback voltage. The current limiting resistor... one for each LED? Or...? Now I'm assuming pins 1 & 3 are ends of the pot and 2 is the center? Edit...nevermind.. I see you sorted it and didn't need to buy parts with fresh smoke.
  8. Matt, I popped the question here: http://modelshipworld.com/index.php/topic/10427-scale-ruler-from-msw-10/ The one you download looks great. The one I'm asking about actually has, of all things, inch marks. Twelve per each 3/16" foot. Tiny... I need new glasses.
  9. Sam, it's definitely a learning.. a learning curve... :D Tim... it's in English...and Italian now: http://modelshipworld.com/index.php/topic/10361-ancre-belle-poule-monograph-english-and-italian-now-available/ Carl, should I change than then from "galloping horse scale" to "Porsche Mad Dash scale"? I don't think "Trip and Fall on Your Face Scale" would work.
  10. Beautiful work, Jan. I'm always amazed at what can be done with paper and card. Congratulations on having the whole fleet.
  11. Hank, Having little to no knowledge of battleships, I have little idea of what you're doing but I like it. You know and you're bringing her to life with the accurate details. Sweet work.
  12. Thanks again for looking in, everyone. Don't hold your breath on the lighting on this build. It's a work in progress and I'm not making any decisions until the exterior is planked. I'm still learning my way around it.
  13. Just incredible that you get a non-fuzzy sanding job on the balsa. I love the lines of her.
  14. I'm still looking for it, but I think what I'm looking for was lost in the crash. Someone posted a set of scales (1:48, 1:64 and 1:96) that could be printed out. I can't even find on my computer, but then again, my computer is like my workshop so the file is probably on the floor somewhere. Ah...going to ask in Nautical Discussion. It's a great tool. Print it out, glue it down to piece of wood.. and voila'... ruler.
  15. Thanks guys for the comments and the likes... To bad I don't speak French... Ok.. I did try. I really did. I sat down with Belle Poule (aka Pretty Chicken) and with Google Translate and Falconer's.. got close on translating it. There's still a bunch that doesn't make sense in the rigging area and that's what I need the info on. Well... ANCRE finally came out with the English version.. I ordered it last weekend and it's being shipped "expedited"... not sure if it will be faster though.
  16. We're ready when you are... hmm.. quite a crowd. I'll bring a chair and kick back...
  17. Simply beautiful and well detailed Gaetan, right down the forelocks on the bolts. As far as I know, there's no fix for the print button disappearing. Ask the question in the Questions/Problems area. http://modelshipworld.com/index.php/forum/47-questionsinstructions-on-how-to-use-and-post-to-this-forumsite-problems-or-suggestions/ There might be a fix available. It's a Forum Issue not a PC (yours) issue.
  18. No pressure here at MSW, Patrick... even though we know whatever you turn out will be great!!!!! I got my chair and
