    Michael, You can't add posts to the beginning of the log. All you can do is edit them and add photos.

    Just a brief update...no pics. The longboat is on hold. There's a couple of areas I'm not happy with and need to re-think. Yeah... I know... "don't overthink this". My cherry wood for the framing has been shipped by Jeff at Hobbymill and is due to arrive here on Tuesday. Happy dance time.... The Le Venus book in also in transit, so.... I need to reconfigure the shipyard from small boats to big hulls. I have some odds and ends to finish up around the house, etc. Plus I'll get some parts cut out for use during framing while sorting out some side issues with this build.

    Wes, I suggest opening a build log. You'll find it's a fast way to get help and encouragement and also it's a way to help other modelers who follow.

    I like the carriages and how you made them... not liking the "ouch" part. The problem is the trunnion is too far back. Can you drill new trunnion holes and fill the old one?

    Hi Bob, I seriously suggest you open a build log. Not only will it be a great way to get help, you'll leave a legacy for anyone else who builds this.

    Nenad, Can you get a flat lacquer where you are? Or a matte finish spray.... maybe from a craft store? That might give you the finish you are seeking. As for life's philosophy, I think you've got it" Chill out, man, be cool, be cool be cool. You'll make it all, with or without anxiety, and better without. Be aware that somewhere around the corner waiting in ambush hearth attack or brain stroke, and you smoke so much ... It's just hard to change, isn't it? I'm still trying to change some things. Building ships is a good bit of that philosophy. No stress, no anxiety, just thought, problem-solving, and art. The spice must flow, but so must the creative part of us. You are doing impressive work, my friend.

    Leaving the stern post off (usually only on kits) lets the builder get the stern planking lined up and sanded without damaging the stern post. It's a builder's choice, really.

    Dave, You forgot to mention planting the trees from seed. And mining your own ore and smelting your metal.

    Sounds reasonable to me, but I've not built this vessel. The key is that the planking line doesn't change.

    Nothing like exercising the guns to bring the whole crew out to the main deck. Beautiful work as always. Your crew is very lifelike.
