Those barrels look lovely, what do you use to drill out the plastic blast bag ends - a small drill bit in a pin vice? OC.

Time for some history about the the Eagle Flag carrying infantryman - during the attacks on LHS the french came under severe and accurate fire from the 2nd KGL and also the 95th in the sandpit - one of their primary aims was to take down the command of the regiment and even the flag barer's, there was just the one Eagle per regiment, and I understand the 1st reg, 55th ligne was carried by an Officer, he was shot and the Eagle was very quickly picked up by one of the ranks infantry and carried forward during their attack on the Farm, I understans a higher ranking officer soon claimed the Eagle back but was soon departed from it when the British Heavy Cavalry attacked and claimed it, it was never taken back its one of Two that was saved from the Battle. I am displaying this Eagle barer as one of the infantry who rescued it before it was handed over to a senior. OC.

Most welcome Ken, will be a wait though I need to finish my Waterloo Dio first and frankly can see that taking me the rest of the year, but guess I have this post started now so I will be able to return to it when I am ready. OC.

You know Lou - I'm not sure, the moulds are seperate - Waterline upper/Bootline section/Lower Hull so it leaves it wide open to build as a full ship on a stand or a waterline, I will be Rattle Can painting it as I think brush painting will not bring out the delicate details, so I will be able to spray those sections seperate without having to mask along the hull. OC.

Well I have given in to temptation and brought this little bad boy, I will build her (when / after I have finished my Waterloo Dio) in her Battle of the Denmark Straits set up, that as we know during her battle with Bismark led to her catastrophic loss when her magazine blew up. The last time I built a model of Hood was the old 1/600 Airfix kit back in the 70's so I am full of excitement to build this one. These are the screen shots from the Flyhawks advert. OC.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
