  1. The beams are fully lased through the billet, the slots are marked only, so the wood still has to be removed, to a depth of 1mm, all the beams are 2x 3mm joined glued together
  2. there is a set cost for each of the lasered billets, its by no means an easy choice, as i feel i have taken the easy route out, and added unnecessary cost to the build
  3. Thank you OC HMS Covid will continue along these lines, i will make it work, if it was easy, it would,,,,,,,,,,,,, well ...................be easier
  4. good evening everyone day55 after section lower deck i tried and tried to cut/mil/scroll/trace,shout at, but failed in making any presentable deck beams, never mind all the bits that goes with it, for me it was going to be a tall order and i did not want to just go and do the basic kit, so i sulked for a day and decided to adapt the upper deck to fit, then order another main deck at a later date so i have made a lot of the upper deck set and then cut them down to size to fit the lower deck support beams, i dont know if this is going to work, but its all part of kevs joiurney, bit like going to the dark side, but with the lights on the after beams that cover the 1/2 deck are temporary spaced apart and as everything removeable at this time i can now work out the bulkheads for storerooms etc away from the hull
  5. thank you for your comment, at last ii have worked out where i saw the stream powered submarine build, it was lovely to see the photos again
  6. lol im not going to get that radius on my MF70 am i then, brilliant work
  7. Good evening everyone thank you for comments and likes Day 52 well the after 1/2 decks are well on the way to completion, i will have a better idea how to do the larger front ones, but i may leave that for a while and try to ensure i have the skills to start the deck above so that i can see if the storerooms fit
  8. now you are well and truly back, will we be seeing lots of updates, like the good old days lol
  9. very nice indeed, will you ever go back to the fair American, i was hoping you could show me how to do the great cabin deck
  10. good evening everyone day 51 1/2 deck reworks i have spent the last day or do getting used to my power tools, at last i am getting confident with them so on the 4th attempt i have one of the after 1/2 decks that fits the hull and im happy with it the size is right and the height, however the wood used is not true to scale, but for now im going with it, again 1/2 will be planked, the slightly lower one is still being made, im unsure of the names for these decks, ( i will find out)
  11. i am presently doing all again, to achieve better joints

  17. good evening everyone, two post in one day and managed to get two episodes of Hornblower in, just love that series day 49 1/2 deck framing/planking still very much work in progress, a question for all you good people out there these 1/2 decks, how were they supported, i see no deck support beams, i do see upright post, but nothing to secure it to the ships hull this afternoon i planked the port side, only then realised that the hatch covers need to be flush with the deck, not raised
  18. good morning everyone from a cold dank Somerset in the UK day 49 1/2 deck framing hope i dont loose to many followers after i post this, because, it is not very good, but its my first attempt, points learnt - better drawings confidence in the miller inability to post without thinking someone is going to say - "its crap" lol
