I have turned my attention to the other side, and working on the fills between the bulkhead. The instructions is showing three planks for the waterway, I have chosen two, one wider for the inside of the bulkhead and a fillers between. Lots of cutting and trimming, but I think this will be very nice once done. Sadly all this will be painted. I am now alternating between the Bluenose and Syren, it's a nice change.

So, the simplest of simplest, my jig for cutting 40 each of 15/32" parts. I used the stick for the height between sills and lintel, placed it on right hand side of the blade of my chop saw. A 1x1" aluminium L profile sat in place with strong masking tape (not good at all when it comes to cover unwanted painted area, ripps the surface where it is attached off). As a trial I cut 10 posts, and all came out perfect for cannon openings. Cutting time less than a minute.

Less is More, was one of mottos with a company I worked for back in the 80's. But how does one apply that to ship modeling?

At my last visit in Seattle one of our MSW member cut me a perfect 15/32" x 15/32" stick to be used for the cannon ports. The stick was cut using Byrnes table saw with micrometer. Instead of marking of each bulkhead from a caliper I used the stick to get the correct height between the lintel and sill. The stick turned out to be a good tool as well.

Fokker Dr.I by Torbogdan - FINISHED - Model Airways

Tor,I am crying seeing the receipt for gas of yours. My last fill up cost me 36 dollars for 13.1 gallons. Now let me try to convert it to Swedish units...... That will be 50 liters and 290 kronor for 87 octane gas. -
Sail design for 18th-century longboat?
Nirvana replied to Cathead's topic in Masting, rigging and sails
Thank you Chuck for the clarification in this matter regarding the horse. In other words the version I did with the tiller under the horse would be later 18th century. I also added a signal cannon at the stem, which I found out that some longboats had as well. -

Tor, Why not upload picture directly to MSW? Do you need photobucket? -
Mr. Pucko Have you contacted the consortium that build Gothenburg? You might be able to buy plans from them.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
