HMCS Aggasiz by dj.bobo - cut-away model - Flower-Class Corvette

Good evening to everyone, as I promised I will begin a new ship used in the Second World War to escort the overseas convoy sin from the united kingdom of Murmansk in Russia, this ship is called Aggasiz a flower  corvette.
I'm inspired by the plans in the anatomy of ship  the book, a book I bought from the Amazon and which is renowned for the accuracy of the plans presented. But the main challenge is to build this structural model, with everything inside and outside the ship, this type of construction is according to the Naviga rules in the C4D class.It will be a long construction with a lot of work with many hundreds of details, the most ambitious project that I start and I hope to take it to the end. About the beginning, let's get to work.

I certainly hope everyone has read the novel The Cruel Sea, which features the life of a Flower Class corvette in the North Atlantic in WWII. There’s a pretty good film version of the novel too.

Thanks to everyone for the encouragement will be a difficult and unusual construction, for this construction I will also use the cartoon magazine Modelik and another book about corvettes written by Jhon Lamber and Les Brown. I build this ship at 1/48 scale because many of the drawings in Anatomy are at this scale.

Were you inspired by the magnificent cut away model made by Barry Sharman? I was lucky enough to see his outstanding work at a model show back in 2012, be good to see how your build progresses.

Hi, now I saw Mr. Barry Sharman's work, what I can say is he worked after a 1/72 scale revell kit and I will build this ship from scratch in which the starboard board will be free only with a part of the ship's bottom . Below I put a work of colleague Dan with this ship at 1/350 which won 94 points and the silver medal at the European championship Kavarna 2017.

Good evening to everyone, because today was the national day of Romania and it was a free day we devoted to the study of construction plans. On this occasion, I chose the plans that I use for construction, as extracted from the book now I will scale from 1/192 to 1/48 with a zoom of 400%, and those at 1/96 at 1/48 with zoom of 200%.
I intend to make up half of the ship's body on the port side in the negative, then in that negative I will first apply the ship's shell, then the ribs and the skeleton of the ship on the inside. I will work a lot with styrene in which I will reproduce rivets, reinforcements and many others about 98% of the ship's construction.

Good evening, and for me as a navy model is a premiere this way of work but some time ago I saw in a small shipyard this working method in which pieces of the ship were made on a negative. Now the shipyards are working on designing and cutting materials by computer and the old methods of work have become ineffective.

That's a bigger model than I thought you were building. I just walked past her sister HMCS Sackville about 30 minutes ago. She's tied up in our dockyard at her winter berth.

That is some beautiful, careful work that you are doing, and using a method that I haven't seen before.  Do I understand correctly that you are plating the inside of the hull?

As far as I understand, he is going to build her outside-inwards: starting with the plating,

than adding ribs, interior plating, decks, etc. I guess, that once the paper plating fits, he is redoing it in styrene sheeting.

Never seen it done this way before.

Yes, shipmodel, amateur you understand well I will build in the interior with the shell of styrene fillets and add ribs, stringers, keel and all the ship's bosom.
As I said before, this way of building is a premiere, if I succeed will be a great success, if I can not succeed it will be a big failure.
For the ship's cornice I will use 0.25 mm styrene corresponding to 1/48 scale.

Yes, I have read this book for a long time through gymnasium and I was impressed, I recently found the film and it will be a source of inspiration to me.
