Greg, did you have issues getting the torpedo net drilling template to lay out on the hull? I plan to cut it out of the instruction sheet and tape it onto the hull.

Glad I have that little Ryobi drill and chuck for all the holes. The drill turns slow enough that I had no issues with plastic gumming up the drill flutes.

I photocopied a few sets of the plan (inA3), then cut them as a strip. Makes it easier to align. The starboard side is actually different to the plans. Not that easy but it HAS to be in a strait line for the nets to sit flush and aligned  (if you deploy them).

Nice progress Greg.  Looks like daunting project on the netting.

Every boom arm has 2 pulleys where a line runs from the base of the net along the arm up to a pully on the side of the ship, then to a pulley lashed to a rope, then to a cleat on the deck.

Then there are about 60 brailing davits where the line runs from the nets to the hull to the same set of pulleys lashed to the cleats.

The photo shows these davits.

2 photos, one of the Seydlitz without her torpedo net. 396EDB7A-2E3E-448F-A607-C18D76D5E867.jpeg.ba4ae65ce9f4b630aa7a4e99979c39d4.jpeg

The next is of Von Der Tann’s forcastle. The reason is to show the pulleys and lines that pull it the torpedo net booms. These need to be added to the kit. C1CA5578-5809-4EF9-9369-8DB9054BB766.thumb.jpeg.6d51ad7a1df3e9e873fe10e348458fe6.jpeg

Now, the photo is post 280 is followed by this one that sits on the starboard side, showing how the rails were dropped before battle. The amount of ropes on deck is amazing, being the tackle and lines for the nets. 8A7BA2BE-E947-468C-AB2E-CC0AF4361330.thumb.jpeg.66182bd01c56fd8bbc25cfeb630aa5d1.jpeg

I then added 2 pulleys to each boom apart from the front one which will be rigged slightly differently. 2EBD5170-C7C5-4C00-BED6-0B71D3ED8A91.thumb.jpeg.b8c5d4462325d72d91c545942ea165e0.jpeg

Wonderful work RGL.   Have a question... why would the cranes be hanging over the turrets instead of the boats?
