good evening everyone

standing rigging continues

i have been asked to provide more info on the lines being put in, i so hope i am getting this right

plan is to have  standing done within a few weeks, in which i have time to decide on the sails, at this time i am moving away from them, it a very busy boat and a lot of detail is going to be lost, but that idea might change by tomorrow

Patrick

im torn as well, on one hand i feel quilty from leaving her again, when i know i could possibly complete her within a few months, But p want to rid myself of the demons  that made me put the Enterprise away in the first place

and also knowing the 1/48 Bellona is out there waiting for me

good evening everyone

well the scratch for a non ship build has been scratched

a lot of members (well one) was hoping i would just continue with the SD14 but i do miss the wood and string, and as i will be purchasing the Vanguard Models HMS Indefatigable, i thought i would pick up where i left of last October/November time on the AV

so the shrouds for the main mast lower are now complete,, i then put in the main back stays before realising i need to do the upper shrouds on the main mast, what a great way to waste a couple of hours

Main mast shrouds upper and lower

been a great couple days, and just fell back into the build routine, having left a list of what I was doing and what was planned to do next save a lot of messing around

most of the back stays are also in just another 3 to do both side, then i will have to think about making up the mizzen

P&S foremast lower ratlines

well most of the rats are in now (foremast lower), another 5 to go plus remove one or two that look worse than the rest, im still not 100% sure the white and brass is doing it for me, it needs a dark backdrop to stop it looking like every 6th line is missing

good evening, everyone

it was about 10 days ago lying-in bed 3 in the morning, wife breathing heavy one side and the Boi spaniel in his bed right next to me and all i could do was think about model building,

the sd14 is enjoyable but 100 days on im slightly ready for a change, I have other kits new and some started but i want the WOW factor, something to get me head thinking, something to tax me without being boring, and a little out of my comfort zone,

thinking we are on an adventure my boi follows me  into my display area and discuss what to do next, well I talk to myself whilst the boi looks for treats in me pockets

a process of elimination rules out any new build 1/200 Titanic and Shipways Syren being started as the new INDY is out later this year

Next the started builds, 1/48 Enterprise is crossed off as is the U Boat and Snowberry.

We have one build left the Amerigo, this is the build that should have gone to landfill many years ago, its only when I restarted her that I decided to make her in my own version

Anyway she came back to the table, and im pleased with the progress my WOW and out of comfort zones will be coming in the form of putting a full set of sails on her

Posted

anyway on with the build

i have two different thicknesses  of Modelspan on order, I am not  in a hurry for them as i dont even have a sail plan yet

the foremast lower rat lines continue, i will then do the Catharpins before going onto the upper lines,

there are so many snagging bits ofn the build, so glad i never put everything on

it think i have now got the foremast backstays in, but now thinking i dont like the ratlines, they are the right scale i just dont think white and brass works for me, that will mean replacing the shrouds as well

why o why do i try to be different and half way through regret it

whilst i ponder that i am also replacing a line of fencing 8x6 foot panels the posts all failed in the Jan storm (100MPH winds)

with no contribution from the neighbour i am also preserving his side as well , the first panel has been reduced to move the post holes

Why not just color the rat lines.  India ink or leather shoe dye.

that may have to be an option. i have a plan in my head which means keeping it white but i dont see the plan anymore lol, if i could wait for the first of the sails to go on and then stain, i certainly am not in any hurry to rip it all off

What is the material of your new fence posts?

They don't look like the usual wood posts.

Just curious.

just putting in 3m concrete posts as the soil is quite damp along the boundary, the life expectancy for the wooden ones is about 5 years even if treated, lol i never realised how dam heavy they are to do on my own

good evening everyone

the last couple weeks no work has been done to the renamed build, the temperature in the UK was silly and made the mancave unbearable and very hard work to put the new fence in,  the last week has been DIY with wood staining and a large skip to get rid of all the rubbish, as well and a few finishing jobs

But yesterday i built up the Mizzen mast, still to do the spreaders and radar supports,

good evening every one

the mizzen mast also has a spreader which i made this afternoon thas mast also has another radar fitted on a extended bracket, as i has no dimensions i have winged it for now and adapt later on

, i then thought about the chainstays for the shrouds, and then noticed that the kits says 4 shrouds where as there are infract 5 , space in tight where they have to be fitted
