Thank you  kindly mate,   its  that  grass  sprinkle  medium  -  it  comes  in bags  and  you  just  sprinkle  it  on a  glue  layer  and  keep  adding to  it  as  you  want  for  height.

Hi all,     I decided  I am  going to  give  myself  a  good  kick  and  have a go at  this build,  I have  quite  a  few  figures  that  are  painted and weathered  and  need  flat top  coating,    I have  done away  with  my  airbrush  system  for  many reasons,   but I can still  brush  paint the  flat top coat as  I still  have  some  of it left  in the  bottle,  they will then  be put away  to  fully  harden  before I remove the  bases.

I have been  missing  working on  this  but  I will  be honest  I kind  of lost  my mojo  a  bit  and  after  packing everything away  I could  not be  bothered  to  get  it all  out  again,  but  I will  just get  out  what  I need   to   do these  figures.

You are one of the best model brush painters I have seen, so I believe you will get by just fine without an airbrush.

I have watched some videos of a modeler who works exclusively with brush painting and his work is phenomenal. Yours is and will be, too.

It will be great to see you back on this spectacular project. So many great figures already done. Your brush painting skills make the air brush redundant for this one. Enjoy and have fun.

I'm back,     I   put a  handful of  figures  mainly  the  2nd KGL  and  Lunebourg  and  some injured  on some  bottles  to hold  them,  then i mixed up a  small amount  of my Mig  Lucky acrylic flat coat, and  did a  very  thin  brush coat, then  dried  then off  slightly  with the hairdryer, they  will  need a  second coat  tomorrow.

Your work on this is marvelous, OC.  I hope the mojo comes back and you keep going.   As for mojo, I find it tends to wander off on it's own like it needs a vacation or just a rest.

We  all   share  so much  in here   -  sometimes  not just  build  related,  well  I view  this  site  as  my family,   after   doing some  internet  bashing  I found  out  I have lost  the  last  members  of my  older  generation of my  family  -  last  uncle and auntie, only left  now  are  my cousins  who I do  not  have contact  with  as  life  for  us  consists  of just the  admiral  our  Yorkie  and  yours  truly.

Life  can be  frighteningly short.

All too true, OC. At one time I had 39 first cousins; now I have 18 and a few of them I'm not too sure about. Travel for many of them is a thing of the past. C'est la vie.

My mother was born a Caruthers. Her mother was a Polk. Both our Polk and Caruthers families have frequent gatherings, we call them reunions, where all the cousins come together to share dinner together, great conversation, and just keeping up with how we are doing. It helps that most of us still live in or near Florida. I must say that I often doubt whether the younger generations will continue our traditions. I hope they will. We have taught our children to do this.

Evening all,   more progress  in-between  a  couple of chaotic days  with  the local water board  coming and going taking samples of our drinking water  as  its  developed a  metallic taste and smell,  they are  testing it in their labs  and  put us on supplied  bottled water  until they fix the problem.

Anyway  here are  a  couple  of pics  of my Frenchies  after  flat coating.

Just noticed  after giving them some time to dry  -  they will  need  another  brush over with my Mig Flat Acylic varnish,  airbrusing  was better  and a  one off  application,  brushing  it  on  seams  not  to cover aswel  and still  leave a  few shiny surfaces, think the  brush  may  move  some of the  varnish off areas  and not cover them so well.

brushing the varnish leaves an uneven coat, compared to more complete airbrush spray. Painting a second coat should fix it right up.

Good luck with the water testing, OC.
