You clearly have too much time on your hands!  :)  I'll follow along as well.

I am confused though....I noticed the front of the box says "Solid Hull Construction for Easy Building!"

Hi John

Model Shipways also has a solid hull Bluenose model. Someone probably grabbed the wrong box lid when packing it. That's probably why the previous owner gave up the project. He thought he was getting a simpler kit.

I really like the detail of your Charles Morgan.

Nice work by-the-way.

Stern and Bow Railings are laser cut pieces. The remaining railing all has to be cut from wood strips.

Hi John,

Actually, that chain box is on the MS plan. It's on sheet 4, lower left hand corner of the page. These old photos of the Bluenose are great and I am quite impressed with how accurate the MS model seems to be.

Yours is looking great!

Thanks David… yep, I found the chain box on the plans. Lots of detail on sheet 4. Requires lots of study. 🧐 I too am impressed with the plans from Model Shipways. John

Just got back from Nova Scotia, what a great trip. Beautiful coast line, much like Maine. Spent time at the Canadian Maritime Museum of the Atlantic in Halifax. Fascinating History. Also, went for a short cruise on the Bluenose II. Got lots of good photos and first hand knowledge of rigging, etc…

There is nothing like close up reality, almost a step back in time.

Using kit supplied brass strip and brass nails, jigged up eye band per instructions and soldered.

Note to self: buy a smaller tipped soldering iron.
