You might want to forego the name on the back. I doubt ships of the time would have had it. This model of yours is turning out near-perfect. Much better than i could ever do! You should consider painting the entire hull in the flamboyant English colors of the time. That would really look good and add a flair to your build.

Yes I am really glad I cut the white out on the Mayflower decal , I thouch up the green with a felt marker fine point . To get rid  of the white around the cuts. It'll do.

 The stairs went well, doors to. I moved the door on the castle bulkheads, there was no way it could open behind the main mast. Not sure what I did wrong,  but moving it solved the problem  😅.  The vents  have to be finished and glued into place . And I have the hatches under the life boat to do too. I want to make the anchors next  then start on the masts. They line up pretty good  but the do look complicated.  This is how she sits tonight

Well it's time to weigh anchor. They seem ok. I had to install the channels , then make the pully. The hawerhole peices were missing. But I made some from left over's.  I have never heard of a Shank painter before, I have knownen  many a  shakie  painters but this is a first lol.

  So now I think I will  blacken the pins for the deck hatchway  and clear coat the wood.  After that is put together  , I will tie down the life boat. 

  I made the life boat this way  because of recent events that had happen. The death of my mother in law, and my younger  sister plus one of my First Mate's sister 💔  Three. And we lost a member before Christmas so  this is what I did. The members  name and dates of passing are written under the boat. Along with my Mother in law  That's why it's ups  side down. Plus each cannon cover has a picture of the family  we lost this year. Plus I set my father  and the first Mates  father  behind one to . All together  7 souls I set free to sail to were they want.

  Now I got to figure out the masts.  I hit a bit of a stumbling  block. Lack of plans , it's hard to understand how it works but I'll figure it out. 

 Thanks everyone  for the likes and advice. I wished I could communicate a little better  but I am getting the hang of it.  

   After the hatchways are done  its sails masts ,  and rigging,  how long can that take lol . 😆  have fun everyone.  I am very happy for the way this build is going its a fun ship. The sails will make her shine,  but it's my boat so I might over look lots lol.

  Again thanks for letting me  learn how to fined what I need to know. Now I just got to get better at it. Pegasus is on my mined  all day but I have two more After this. I  don't think I will make it,  I will probably  start the Pegasus  soon I think lol. Whoa   pony slow down lol. Thanks  that's my update. Sea you.

Ahoy,  First ...  I really  love my First Mate.  Look what she did to my sails so far. And she is now sewing on the bolt ropes as we speak lol. I can't thank her enough. A peek at the sails. Got to finish them first.

Back to The ship. The mast were pretty hard to follow along with the plan. But looking at a few logs, this is what I came up with. Pieces were breaking, and some more parts were missing.  The parts for under the crow's nest were missing  so I made some . I needed 8 they sent me two. Oh well. On we go. I stained the masts with a quick coat of sealer, then assembled them as best as I could. While they were drying I tied  down the life boat. Other then the 3 little bits which is what they are called, the deck is done. I am still Grinning,  it's a fun build. Can't  thank everyone enough for all the help.  

 So this is the ship on the shelf... while I go figure out my next move lol.

 Dead eyes, shrouds, Rat lines oh my lol.  It's incredibly so much fun , ya there's lots of mistakes  but I am Grinning.  The Blacken-it worked really well.  But just like my method,  ruff handling  will chip them. I blackened all then put the rings together. This caused  the black to come off. So I made the parts, dunked them again and glued them on . Now that I know all this, I use it just before I need it. But yes I like blacken-it better then painting them . Ok later all.  Sea you.

  Thanks @HardeeHarHarWell, it's coming along. I made some mistakes with the crows nest. It was hard to understand  how they did it. So  I figured they must go together the same way.  Nope , the pieces  I thought missing  were in fact 2x2 not crosstrees. Oh well A little  trimming and they will be fine. Also forgot to drill all the,  Fori Passante, which means drill holes lol on the crows nests. So I broke out my mini drill and boom all done no bits broke. The wood was easy, the aluminum is a little tougher but it worked fine. Got all the eyebolts in. And while on the subject of forgetting  🙃.  Also forgot to do the bindings on the masts. It would've been easier to do before mounting them but It won't b that hard.

 Then I will be moving on to the yards and Bowsprit, let's not forget the Cleat lol

 Then the rigging starts, going to do what blocks I can do now plus all the dead eyes, run the standing rigging  line, and try not to forget any lol. Still having way to much fun in the ship yard lol but loving every moment of the builds. If I could read a little  better and comprehend what I am reading it would be nice but really happy how the Mayflower is looking.

So I think I am back on track,  I figured  most of the rigging.  There is a couple of lines that look like fun. The one that has four lines go into one. But long way from that, so no use getting tied up in Knotts lol.  The binding's went well , and the bowsprit mast is on. So now I just  have  Bits,  and pieces of the yards to do. Then starting the shrouds and rat lines. Lots  of work. Hopeing to improve on my seizing  and glueing techniques but the eyes are are fading and shaking seems just to be part of life lol. But it don't help but  that's what makes it fun. The ship is down to just what you see in the little tray. From a big box to a tray full of happiness  😊 🙂  lol.

 So the ship sits like this for now, and I glued  the last fender on lol. Ok Sea you.

Well just a little  up date. This is so much fun, having the time of my life these days. Starting to understand  my computer better, now just got to learn how to spell and read more carefully. 

 This is all the instructions for the shrouds, ratlines and plates for the deadeyes , Fig 70.  I could have used a little more  guidance  here but have learned how to read Amati  instructions  so should be a walk in the park . Lol after that step it's the sails.lol. I think this will take me awhile. But I am up for the shrouds and rat lines. I have seen shrouds and ratlines done several different ways.  I have my own method,  I make the shrouds first then tie them on. After they are in its the ratlines. Best installed when singing  the tune 99 ratlines on the wall, 99 ratlines lol.  I took a few pictures of were the ship stands now.

I kept breaking the bowsprit mast off Three times finally  I said what are you trying to tell me here. After studying the plan I discovered  it was in the wrong place. I had it resting on the bow when in fact it is supposed to be  one inch up from the bow. Glued it in the right spot  retried the Bowsprit gammoning, and have not knocked it off since.  

Like I said starting the rigging  and seizing,  ratlines. Then  I have two Bitts to put on lol. Thanks  for all the looks and likes.  everyone

Well very slow process,  I have all the yardarms done and put away. Been having  a hard time deciding how I wanted the ship to look. I decided  to leave the plates brass because of the dark stain  of the wood.

 Plus trying to make a plan for rigging.  So between  the plan and my Neanderthal writing this is what I came up with. Started the deadeyes,  first of 20 on this side done . I used a line to  install the plates, messered  and lined  it up,drill little  pilot holes for the nails. Hope they line up lol. 

 So I will be working on shrouds for awhile ,but I have the ratlines to look forward to can't wait lol 99 ratlines on the wall  Sea you

To serve ,or not to serve that is the question  🤔?  As I dive deeper in to my modeling journey  , I want to up my game on how my models look.  I wanted to try serving the lines on the Mayflower,  but I had no idea what to do.  So started looking for pictures, Holy it looks hard. Then I find out about server machines, ok but to get one I have to pay enormous amount of shipping.  I can't get passed the First Mate,  shipping is more than the machine find a better way😒.

 So I looked at how they used to serve lines before machines. Ya that ain't happening  lol. So I decided  to for go the serving on the Mayflower . But will do as much seizing  as I can.. Studying rigging and moving forward,  I came up with the idea  to do all the shrouds, ratlines, and standing rigging first.

 So I broke out my third hand and started, I have four done with  three on the ship, temporarily  not tied on, as I want to tie both sides at the same time.

 So with 36 shrouds to go and all the rat lines I will be busy for awhile for sure.  But I will get there lol. I t can get overwhelming  rigging,  but I have learnt to back off a bit, study  more and come back better I hope

 Lol   The plan is to do at least one shroud a day already two days behind schedule  lol. But this is were I am at now.

  Thanks all for looking and helping me out. Most of all thanks for helping me learn how to build ships. So much to learn, so little time left lol.

I see Patrick beat me to this....  Just build one from scratch.   a couple of shafts, some gears, and some framing.  Doesn't have to be motor powered as a hand crank will work.

You can easily build a serving machine with spare legos or a similar interlocking system.

Well thanks to everyone for their ideas on the  servo. As luck would have it our meat slicer broke, so I tried  to fix it, it's a no go. But now have some gears and small motor  for winding the rope.  We will see.

 The first Mate dropped off these sails, all done except for the seizing,  and staining of the sails in coffee.  I put one one for a peek, looks good to me.

 Now continuing  on with the shrouds and deadeyes 

 I know , I have been doing my shrouds and deadeyes  backwards,  making them and tied to the mast. But It works for me, and they look even, or close enough  lol.

I have a few more books coming tomorrow  that will help.  I   am trying  to do modeling better as to how it supposed  to be done as to how I am doing it. But happy with my progress.  So here is were we are now. Lots of outside interference and  building has slowed, plus a pick up of  some side work that will slow me down for a month or so  🤔.

 The shrouds and deadeyes  are done on the starboard side,  now on to the portside.  I will do the portside , then on to the Ratlines, my favorite  part lol. Then the upper  shrouds and rat lines. This will take awhile and my outside world is hampering  my progress  😌.  So it might be awhile before I get to post again lol,  ok see you guys around. Thanks for everyone's help and time.  I know my ships are not historical correct  and I should do research  on some stuff but my abilities to do that are lacking,  but once I see how it is done or attempting to do  then I understand.  I have only been modeling for about two years, and have learnt to  do so  much. And there  is a mountain of stuff to still learn. So a big thanks to everyone  who help me along the way, and apologies  for my typos and posting in the wrong place at times, I will get the hang of it lol

IMHO, what matters most is that you are happy/pleased/accepting of what you are creating, regardless of historical accuracy, and that you're having fun doing what you're doing.  As was brought up in my build log, "most people wouldn't know an udder from a rudder", so I don't think any historical inaccuracies would be noticed by anyone other than the most experienced modelers.  Don't know what circles you run in but I'd hazard a guess that those who get an opportunity to view your work up close aren't experts in this little hobby of ours.  Be proud of what you've done, learned and accomplished with this build because you know your next one will be better.  Keep up the good work and I look forward to following this thru with you to the finished product.

Hi Knocklouder - I think your work looks great! - mine was not up to that standard after only 2 years in the hobby - or even after 14!! I think that as long as we're learning (which is always), we should give ourselves some latitude in terms of both the aesthetic qualities of our results and their relative historical accuracy - but tbh I don't think you have anything to worry about on the aesthetic end. As for historical accuracy, if you're not being commissioned by a museum to represent this or that ship at this or that stage of her career, then you're really under no obligation other than what you decide for yourself. Then it's more about the (sometimes masochistic, as in ratlines) pleasures of the process and developing your craft.
