Looks fantastic, Sjors.  VERY impressive!

You know, just thinking out loud here, but if you set the starboard side toward the wall, you won't need to bother with all that pesky copper on the other side and can move on to other work.  Again, you know, just thinking outside the box a bit....

@ Wayne,

Also thanks !!!!!

I like the idea to face the starboard to the wall but there is one problem then......

When I have a case for her, she is gonna standing in the middle of the room so you can walk around her......

It's now thinking inside the box ........

Sjors,

I love the look of patina copper also. Years back I helped a friend make a bunch of copper lamps and lanterns. Some we used chemical patina, others were allowed to patina naturally. One thing I learned, fingerprints show up when you least expect them and in the most difficult place to remove. It might be an idea to give her a good cleaning when your done and try not to touch the copper with your bare hands after. Just a thought.

Hi Sam,

I let the nature doing her work.

And I have a bottle of shampoo, special for copper.

I use that for the hull.

It removes those fingerprints.

And now she can get's het patina look.......

After I finished the starboard side , she is going on the shelf and I start working on the Fonz ( again ? ,yes again ! )

You can use it also for that Augie.

I have to put a little layer on it, brush it a little, then with a little water I remove it and then with a clean towel I have to dry it.

And it looks great !

Now nature can do her thing  :D  :D  :D

Sit back and relax my friend.  I'm still waiting for the patina to develop on my Syren.  After 1 1/2 years, it is darkening but still has a ways to go.

Very good looking coppering there Sjors.

If you want to speed up that patina have a look at my Fly log. A free and frequently available chemical is demonstrated that will age copper about 100 years in about two days.

Cheers

I think that's the same I'm using...

Maybe a different bottle but the idea is the same

@ Alistair,

Thanks !!

I will take a look at you log.

But I just want to do time her work  :D  :D

When I'm 90 years old, maybe I look also like patina, same as the plates  ;)

Good Day Sir, I purchased my ship 4 years ago and due to my work and travel have never started it.  But that is about to change.  I have read numerous logs regarding the model and all seem to mention that the plans are in accurate in areas and that the instruction book isn't as detailed as it could be?  I was wondering if these snags have been improved in the recently issued model kits?

I am from Liverpool a maritime city and the sea is in my blood.....but I joined the Army  (no regrets).  Any help would be most appreciated.

Tom,

If you would, go to the New to the Hobby/MSW section and introduce yourself.  http://modelshipworld.com/index.php/forum/3-new-to-the-hobby-or-the-nautical-research-guilds-msw/

And then when you're ready, open a build log.  You'll find it's the fastest way to get help and encouragement.

Sorry that I'm not answering you Tom.

I don't know how the manual was years ago....

I have these day's no problems at all.

The drawings are clear to me.

But don't forget, Mobbsie is helping me.

He is a walking manual ...... :D:D:D

When you start a build log, let me know and I will follow you and help you where I can.
