I  don't know Augie.....the pitcher 's a wild one.....he's been known to hit a few batters   LOL!

I don't know about that Alex.......from the looks of your build......the situation is well in hand  ;)    you might find though,  that your knots are going to differ,  than the rigging of more modern ships.   I'm sure you'll include some very interesting technique of your own ;)

thanks for the good word.  :)

Hi Popeye,

The person who can decipher a Billings plan all the way through aint been born yet mate.

The sails look great and when AmericA is dressed she's really going to look the part.

Well done my friend.

More than the era, I think that's the scale to make the difference. I'm working in 1:50 and if it's a resource (you can work better on details), on the other hand it's also a hard situation: you must work better on those details!!!

Anyway, your sails are spectacular.

Cheers

Alex

while I'm here,  I'll show you where I am at this point in time.   As mentioned,  when I found the discrepancy {on my part}.......I pulled the blocks out.

there is some marks at the main mast.......they hardly show.  while I was thinking of what to do.....I got the jib sail ready,  as well as the blocks for the rigging.

I came up with this as a remedy.....simply installing eye bolts.

with the jib complete.......it was installed

I'm using a copper colored thread to attach the jib sheet

the second row has been started on the main sheet

thanks all for your kind comments  :)    putting the eye bolts in was the better solution......that or four tiny filled in holes that might have shown up like a sore thumb.   errands today kinda put a crimp in my build time,  but I still got a bit more done.  thanks again,  I really appreciate your kind views.

don't count yourself short Paul......experiment with some thin linen.  cut them,  fold and sew the edges,  and then sew in some pleats   {I use a sewing machine for all this}.   paint them with diluted white glue and drape them over a folded towel {covered with a piece of plastic wrap}.   you'd be surprised with what you can come up with.   I haven't been making them too long...this is the second build I've done with sails.   I see your new here.......welcome to the fold!   you've come to the right place!

I'll be around when your ready to do your sails Alex.   I'm not an expert.....but I'll be happy to help where I can!  ;)

the other anchor was cut out of the wood......now they need to be sanded and shaped.   then they can be finished off and assembled onto the build.

the kit only came with a couple of 5mm double blocks......I added a couple more

and then the boom was sewn onto the bottom of the main sheet

and The AmericA sprouts wings. Beautiful work as always Popeye.

This ship has such beatiful lines and such a clean deck design. Its the kind of ship one falls in love with, in a shipoholic kind of way.

Sometimes I have to go back in build logs and relook at certain ships over and over. So many ships so little time.

thanks Michael,  Sjors,  and Mark for the good word :)      there are only shrouds Sjors......no ratlines.....I won't be doing those until the fore and main sheets are in place.   according to the plans,  there are no ratlines.........if anyone knows otherwise,  please let me know.   at this moment,  the main sheet is in place and I'm doing the hoops.   I've set the running rigging......they are not tied down yet,  so I can make adjustments later.......and when the shrouds are in place.   I will have an update soon....thanks for looking in  ;)
