HMS VICTORY by Kevin - FINISHED - Caldercraft - 1/72

Recommended Posts

Good evening everyone

sorry about poor photos - i will harder better tomorrow

the six  quarterdeck cannons are now completed that leaves a couple to do forward in the future, as i am not sure where i am going to put them, after all i still need room for the band

the next bit will be paint any showing brass bits and train the ropes to lie down they have been pva glued to stop the fuzziness biut as a result they need to be dampened again and some weights to make them look a little more realistic

believe it or not as far as i am concerned the worst of this build it now over, maybe another 20-30 hours finishing things off on the hull then into phase two of the build, the bit i am so looking forward to

Kevin,

Looking fantastic.  I hope you'll keep going.   BTW, is the binnacle loose?  Seems like it's not square in front of the wheel.

Good morning

Main mast

dowel sanded down to 12.7mm then put into a simple jig that allowed me to taper both sides down - the top is now 12.7mm x 8mm

a nail through one end allowed me to rotate the rod through 180 degrees to do the other side, and it worked no problem

used styrene strips to simulate the iron banding

Hi Kevin,

She looking really smart mate, very well done.

That is one simple jig, but it's really effective, have to stick that in the old memory banks, thanks.

Good afternoon my friends

masting continues, and all are wip

the main still has to grow another 6 inches but i am getting close to the ceiling, the main top still has to have blocks fitted

the bowspit is more or less finished with the exception of painting and blocks, must admit i enjoyed build that the plans didnt help through, worse than useless wrt to some of the info required

Hmm... near the ceiling?  Is it time to lower the workbench or raise the ceiling?   ;)   Looking super, Kevin.  I guess once the weather changes we won't see her outside for a long while.   Something about natural light just adds to the pictures.
