Ah, so that's what they're supposed to look like! :D

Very nicely done Augie. I hope to be at the same stage very soon - I've painted my yards, just waiting to attach the fittings now. I think I'll follow suit using wire for the stirrups. Do you have any close-ups of how you did these?

Thanks Andy, Wayne, Popeye, JP, John, Mark, Robert, Tex and Daniel for your interest and encouagement!

Bob-  I'm not worried about the last storm --- I've first to get out of the fog and get hanging the yards square in my head.

Grant-  I'll send you a PM

Augie

Sherry -- they are really neat and easy.  Just pick the proper scale for the wire.  I'm @ 1:64, you @ 1:96.

Sjors --  Next year sounds good.  And yes, another foot of snow coming tonight (that's 0.3m for you folks on that weird system).  By the way, what are you cooking for dinner?  I heard Anja was pretty busy :P  :P

WOW Augie,

Your rigged spars are very neat. They look beautiful.

I also hope you will get your last snow for this year. It must become very tiring shoveling all that snow over and over again.

And no cooking for Sjors today.  Tomorrow it's his.  He has his day of tomorrow, so he has the whole day for preparing us a nice meal.

Take care,

Anja

Augie,

I just downloaded and printed the photo of your yards. I'll be building a set before long, and your photo will be a better reference than all the plans in the box.

and where have we heard that before

They are creating an MSW Calendar with pictures of builds and things.  It's the first post when you go into the General Discussion page.  Very bright and colorful hard to miss.

I didn't know they were going to have a 'Modern Impressionist' section of the calendar.  'Yards on a Paper Towel' or 'Dreams on Terrycloth'. Hmmmm.

I like your new avatar.  Any special significance for you?  Or is it just a cool pic of some big guns?

I like it too. It seems a view of an Iowa-class battleship.

Hey, someone noticed!

With all the recent international saber rattling about who has the most firepower, I decided it was time to replace the Sopwith Pup aircraft with her one (1) 7.9mm machine gun with something a little more potent.  Sjors 174 gun double decker thingy convinced me!

So here's an upgrade to 9 guns.  All 16" with a range of 20 nautical miles carried on a stable platform capable of 33 knots.  Oh yeah, there are another 120 'small' guns.  She's BB-55, the USS North Carolina, lead battleship in her class which is the class prior to the Iowas.  If you're ever in Wilmington, NC don't miss her.  I promise you that even for we lovers of the age of sail, she is impressive.
