Beautiful carvings. I also like the background, so Dutch looking.

and the final piece of the deck finished

I also finished the two pipes for draining water from this deck:

Next the ports for the anker cables are on. On this scale the actual different sizes will show so I'll need to drill 4 different sizes..

Best,

Michiel

Hi,

I love your deck work obviously you used cocktail sticks for the treenails. But how did you do your caulking as even up close like this it looks fantastic?

It's realy practical, just drill a hole widen the opening a bit, bit of glue and one soft hit with a wooden hammer. so that only a simi spher ends up on th outside. the most time consuming is finding the brush with the right size of tips.

Have you tried using a lighter or candle even and just melting the ends of any none blobbed brush. As I've often thought that's what they look like. Except the makers stick something on instead.

Thanks,

The treenails on the inside are cocktail prickers indeed, on the outside they are chestnut thorns, colors better with the cherry.

The caulking is done with charcoal. Gently rub the side of the planks agains a piece. The effect however only comes out nicely by finishing of with danish oil. Even if by sanding the opening between two planks gets filled oiling makes it clean again and brings out the black.

I've tried with melting plastic wire of different types, never really got the effect I was hoping for....

Best,

Michiel

Due to a move and all the renovation that came with it it has been quite some time. Most of the equipment is still packed and the ship itself stored away. But finally I allowed myself some time to do some work on her. These are two figurines that sit on the outside next to the previous set. Still a bit in a rough unfinished phase but the basic shape starts to appear.

During the vacation I did some carving on the figurehead...

The tail of the lion curls through the next piece.

This is the first version I made long ago, when I still though one should use soft wood for carving :P

Hi there,

not much progressm but I spend quite some time improving on the figure head. It comes up in detail at the end of the track:

I still need to learn a bit about closeup shooting with the gopro. Probably get me a macro lens. That should help i guess.

to be continued..

Hi Guys,

Here's a little overview on my progress on the guns, paining the 3D prints:

Blank as they come from the printer:

after the primer:

base layer of black:

Washing with green to obtain a weathered bronze look:

I'm using the golden fluid acrylic.

Thanks for watching,

You should start selling those 3D printed guns..... I guess I would be your first customer. This sice (1:50) is not commonly available.

Very nice build! following it with lots of interest and fun!
