Fire up the Opti-visor, desk magnifier and a couple of spot lights. I just did some Z scale (1/220) houses. And they were mostly precut laser kits. I can't imagine working that small for more than about 10 minutes at a time. This will be interesting. I'll pull up a seat and bring some fresh carrots along to enhance my seeing ability. Anyone for a carrot?

Mathematically it should help in laying the battens out, but I'd double check the curve's smoothness with the old eyeballs. This is the "art" creeping in.

Looks like the mice got into the plans and instructions, Harlequin. Wood and other parts look kinda OK. Good luck. -
Gee whiz, I thought I was the only dullard who needed to mark directions and sides. Sounds like an orthopedic doctor I had for joint replacement surgery. Asked me to mark the leg he's supposed to work on, just before they knocked me out.

Wheel and deckhouse look good, Jack. I understand your issues. We keep losing decent hobby shops around here, although I heard we are getting a HobbyLobby in July. Never been in one, yet.

Proxxon and Panavise are two brands of hobby sized vices off the top of my head, Cindy. We have a MSW sponsor selling Proxxon; check him out. -
Hobbyzone building slip for wooden ship models
Canute replied to aydingocer's topic in Modeling tools and Workshop Equipment
Here's a link for the US importer: http://www.hobbyzone.biz/psm01.shtml Price is $65 US with free shipping in the US. Canadians pay for shipping; contact the importer for costs. http://www.hobbyzone.biz/faqs.shtml I am a happy customer of some of their shop organizers - tool holders, paint holders, etc. They make up in to study tools. -
Elijah, nice job with your hull. Take your time and make sure it looks right to you. You'll be doing a better planking job if you're happy with your base. And remember to have fun; it's a hobby.

Congratulation, Matt. I really like the electronic addition. Nicely done concealing the battery and switch.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
