Sherline mills
WackoWolf replied to Landlubber Mike's topic in Modeling tools and Workshop Equipment
Mike, I got the 2010 4 axes cnc mill and the 2 axes lathe. I went with metric, as for which metric or English, you have to make sure you tell the CNC software which it is. Now as far as the proxxon mini-wood lathe, that is what it is a wood lathe. You won't be able to turn metal. -
I also am not a big fan of there kits either. But this is just my option, others have had good things to say about there kits.

Now that is a beautiful painting. Anyone know if one could buy a copy of this painting and maybe a link to where I could get it. I love this picture. If it wasn't for the wife, it would be my desktop background.

You got a build that you can say you did. I believe one can't measure the time it takes to build a ship, a person goes at his\her own pace and should never rush. Now what is your next build going to be.

Brass Sheaves: Where to find?
WackoWolf replied to Walter Biles's topic in Masting, rigging and sails
I think JB is out of business. There is a thread about this, was active about a week ago. You should check before you order from them but like you said the shipping would be way to much. -
Very nice of you to explain this to us. Keep the pictures coming.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
