  1. Same here: still reading an admiring your progress! I guess yourmounting blocks correspond tothe frame. Jan
  2. I used to know someone (died long ago) working in the Rotterdam harbour, His job was in putting the famous plimsol mark at the hull of newly build freightships. According to him, in the fifties and sixties there used to be a rather large difference between the loadline dring design, and the actual allowed load-line after the ship was completed. Jan
  3. Next he will show us that it is fully functional Although it is on a centimeter-scaled mat, and there is one huge match-stick in front of it, my mind is still struggling with the size of this gun.... Jan
  4. Have you seen the model by Peter (Mr Hollom). That's becomming a real stunner: (can't impute a link here ...., search for Hohenzollern) Jan
  5. Even using a dremel, it remains carving. We can't see the tools you are using, we can only judge you by the superb result Jan
  6. Corel did invent quite a lot on this kit. As I never saw these brackets on any drawings nor on the Original model this kit is based upon, I took the liberty not to install them. I made new chanels, but I didn't look at the model before I did , I foloowed the drawing by Ketting. As he draws the channels way too wide, there is too much distance between my shrouds and the hull... I am always surprised at the relatovely large deadeyes used in those old models, and the complete lack of distance between them. We tend to set the distance almost tow or three times the diameter of those deadeyes. The old models have far less (although this model of Prins Willem is redone by Ketting in the seventies..) Jan
  7. He also did the instructions on the Mayflower. Jan
  8. He did show. There is a bonnehomme richard (forward part) here on msw. even better than the chisels.
  9. Waterline level. The other does give an awkward appearance of the Rigging. It also kind of hides the steep masts. Jan
  10. I think it was 1:64. No idea what the dimensions are. Not a small model, but I may be tempted to persuade the admiral http://www.amatimodel.com/it/modelli/novita/revenge Jan
  11. Don't misunderstand me. I see that these kits are wonderful kits. Problem is that my workshop and home does not fit around a 1:64 ,Vic. I therefore would prefer something much smaller in scale. By the way: what js the current status of the galleon Revenge? Jan
  12. i'm affraid she will be huge. huge seems to be the new kit- designers standard.... I'm still hoping for a small scale kir of a large ship. I dont have space for another over three foot model. Jan
  13. Although you don't prefer your models painted, I very much like the black and whiye contrast of these painted clipper hulls. To me, it definitely adds to your outstanding model. Jan
  14. Funny, it wasn't untill that last pic that I realized the superstructure of these ships isn't symmetrical. Jan
  15. Ah, that's the trick. Very clever! I guess the glued frames are strong enough the prevent distortion of the two halves. Jan
  16. Cutting a model in two halves, that's a brave thing to do! Jan
  17. Hi, Now I start wondering. In previous posts you showed a full hull, now it is only a startboard half. Did you build i as a full hull, and then split in halvee, or did you build two halves, that you clamped together for the pictures in your first post? Also: in some pics it looks as if the decks are build directly into the hull, but you also show a deck out of the hull. Can you explain a bit on your methods? Jan
  18. These are the paper-models (free download, so you could give it a go) http://modelsnmoore.com/mmork.php Jan
