  1. Happy Birthday Len! I hope you are spoiled with lots of Ship modelling presents.
  2. Okay, I know I should be packing as we leave first thing on Monday morning, but........ I still had the tools set up, so I ran another "production run" of the 3/16" (4.75mm) blocks, experimenting a bit more with the sheave hole placement. Here's the result...... I think these are just about "export" quality, although there are a couple that need to be weeded in the QC process (one right near the centre front for example). Alright, that's me done in the shipyard until early October. I will no doubt drop in on a few of your logs over the next month, and I may even post the odd "tourist" pic.
  3. Great to see her in her final home port Augie. Like the others, I have enjoyed the ride and learned a few things along the way, as well as having a LOT of laughs. I look forward to joining the gallery on your Confed build. .....and I note that we exceeded the "100-page" target by more than 10%. I guess that makes us collectively a bunch of over-achievers!
  4. As my wife would say if I pulled that one Sjors, "Nice try, no banana!"
  5. While you're at it, would you pay Robbyn's Internet bill too please?
  6. Glad to hear that both you and your Internet are back! If you have a repeat attack from the Pneumonia, step outside then come in again.........hey, it works for computers! :P
  7. Mobbsie, If I can remember to pack it, I'll bring you some extra Tulle next week - you might be able to pass some on to Kevin (I've no idea of the distance between you, but I'm sure the Royal Mail could help). As for your catheads sheaves, given your lack of tools, I can only suggest drilling a series of holes (carefully aligned), and then clean up the slots using an Exacto blade (you can get "chisel" blades for the Exacto, in two sizes if memory serves me correctly). Two sleeps to go..........
  8. Wow! Wow! Wow! and Wow! again. I don't know what else to say. Your work is just exquisite.
  9. Hope the new meds do the trick for you Sjors. I caution resisting the urge to attempt rigging while under the influence of pharmaceuticals - although WE might enjoy the results, I'm sure you won't!!! Get well soon my friend.
  10. Didn't you say you'd already retired three times? Hmmmmmmm............. They say a change is as good as a holiday, so best wishes for success with your Change. Personally, I'm opting for Holiday - five weeks, starting tomorrow!
  11. Wow Mobbsie! I've no idea about accuracy, but I love what you've done with the decorations. The splash of colour really adds life to the model. I'll look forward to a closer personal inspection in a couple of weeks time.
  12. Happy Birthday Mobbsie - hope you were spoiled with lots of ship modelling presents!
  13. Hey Aldo, Looks like you're making some good progress there. I don't see any barbecues in your near future though - no wood available!
  14. Excellent tip Roger. Thanks for sharing your technique.
  15. Thanks Lawrence, Mark (again), B.E., and Keith. Mark - while a Chuckie franchise might sound attractive, the slave labour margins put this out of the question. Besides, I don't think I'm yet able to meet Chuck's QC requirements! And Keith, yes - doubles / triples are on the agenda. Stay tuned ....... Had planned more work in the shipyard this weekend, but instead spent most of the time doing preps for our big O/S trip. We fly out a week tomorrow. Somehow I don't think there will be any more progress until we return at the end of September. I'll still keep checking in with your various builds, but my own shipyard will now lie dormant for a few weeks.
  16. Congratulations Rusty. Excellent work all round and a finished model to be proud of! Looking forward to following your other projects through too - don't let that work caper steal too much of your time!
  17. Now that is some quality netting there Mobbsie Looking forward to seeing your take on the stern decorations.
  18. Well done Mark. That high-tech bending jig seems to work very well!
  19. Hey, is there still room in the front row for the Confed build? I'm in!!! Glad to hear the case arrived and you're happy with it Augie.
  20. Was it that pesky Moose again Augie? Glad to hear it was nothing serious. Take your time recovering - you don't want to end up back there in a hurry! I'm surprised you-know-who isn't demanding pictures from the hospital though! :P
  21. Just fabulous Chris. Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to post this excellent tutorial.
  22. Sjors, Hope the colour coded template works for you (once you have your arms out of the plaster casts, the bandages off your head, and can see out of your eyes again that is).
  23. That's some seriously nice looking ratlines Sjors. Good job my friend!
