How will those wood strips effect removal of the frames later on? Aren’t the frames removed at the laser cut.? I am at this point now and I understand the wood making the frame more sturdy, I don’t understand the you won’t see it when it is framed. Won’t it be gone?

Yea I thought that also. You can blacken or paint the trucks black. Thinking the Syren barrels in the kit carriages is the answer.

Take the small trucks from the kit supplied Cannon and put them on Chuck’s. That should lower it. You should also be able to lower it more by adding a, I went brain dead and can’t remember the proper terms, band on top of the trunnion and a quinion.

Try going to your local woodworking store and ask where they source their wood. You can also check with local artist associations they will know where to get cheap wood locally.

Christmas tool gifts???
Jim Rogers replied to CPDDET's topic in Modeling tools and Workshop Equipment
I have this little powered hand held sander with several different shaped head attachments that I find extremely useful in sanding interior bulkheads. Made by Micro Mark. Also a nice set of Veritas Thumb Planes for decks. -
If there was going to be any kind of stress on the joint, say like rigging lines pulled taut. I would sand it before I applied the CA. In this case a little dot to CA on the rear trucks will hold, just apply and a little downward pressure. I do it for all my guns and it works. You could also use PVA but it takes longer to set and it is a little weaker joint. IMO.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
