  1. How will those wood strips effect removal of the frames later on? Aren’t the frames removed at the laser cut.? I am at this point now and I understand the wood making the frame more sturdy, I don’t understand the you won’t see it when it is framed. Won’t it be gone?
  2. Yea I thought that also. You can blacken or paint the trucks black. Thinking the Syren barrels in the kit carriages is the answer.
  3. Take the small trucks from the kit supplied Cannon and put them on Chuck’s. That should lower it. You should also be able to lower it more by adding a, I went brain dead and can’t remember the proper terms, band on top of the trunnion and a quinion.
  4. Try going to your local woodworking store and ask where they source their wood. You can also check with local artist associations they will know where to get cheap wood locally.
  5. Thanks Cricket bought the oil based today. Read the label carefully as one stated Modified Oil Based which is water based. I read the clean up instructions and if you are cleaning with water it is water based. Oil cleans up with mineral spirits.
  6. Welcome aboard. Lighting and magnification is highly important. Sharp blades and tweezers are a must.
  7. Use a Dremel and a burr or cutting wheel trim up with #11.
  8. Here is an example of a jig in use. Clamp at front, apply steam. Clamp allow to dry or hit with heat gun. You can do several at a time and don’t risk damaging anything.
  9. Here is a photo of lateen rigging on my Golden Hind.
  10. Looking real good Art. Are you planning on doing anything with the plywood end cuts?
  11. I built this model several years back. The blunt bow was the trickiest part. You might want to think about getting a proportional divider to help with that section and read up on Chuck’s ticking off bulkheads. Have fun with it.
  12. My inclination would be that if it did 3D printing, laser engraving and CNC Routering it would not do each well.Just the nature of the combo beast
  13. Ken she is gorgeous. Your carvings look great. I can’t carve and I envy those that can.
  14. I have this little powered hand held sander with several different shaped head attachments that I find extremely useful in sanding interior bulkheads. Made by Micro Mark. Also a nice set of Veritas Thumb Planes for decks.
  15. If there was going to be any kind of stress on the joint, say like rigging lines pulled taut. I would sand it before I applied the CA. In this case a little dot to CA on the rear trucks will hold, just apply and a little downward pressure. I do it for all my guns and it works. You could also use PVA but it takes longer to set and it is a little weaker joint. IMO.
