On my screen 6 & 7 are invisible and 5 only partly visible. I would choose 3 & 4 having at least the merest look of being tree nailed. 1 & 2 are a bit dark to my taste

Dave, So it does seem to be. It is a force to be reckoned with, but do not rule out the ultimate force: (Rear) Admirals. I would say: "Make the best of your alloted time ..." -
Fam, The picture of Le Cyclope does not give me a clear indication as I do not know which way is bow or stern. Your reasoning, however, is sound. On the other hand, since the oars - pulled or pushed - is to thick (but for the blade) to pass through the upper narrow part of the teardrop, thus, it doesn't matter much which way it will point. This as far as my two cents go ...

Looking forward to new developments. Glad you sorted everything out. Unfortunately I can't get that issue of the Popular Science Monthly, any chance on a copy of the article by Capt. E. Armitage McCann? -
Cristiano, A lot of small items is more fun to read about then one big item. So keep them coming!!

Looking good Grant. I would go for tree nailing, even filling holes would give a realistic look.

Popeye, Can't you get an overhauled engine ... I used to replace my mini engine when it was about 100000 miles and used an overhauled one. They run quite merrily I must say, and are a lot less expensive compared to their newly born sisters/brothers. Alternator, coil, starter motor etc, I took from the old one, which saved a few bucks ... and I took off for another 100K miles ... those high rPM's on those engines didn't do them much good, though it was real fun driving!!! Took corners like it was a hoover

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
