  1. Dan, It;s so nice to have someone build and explain things in such a superb way, that you can fall back on his log for both kit and scratch builds You're build is a true inspiration. Thanks
  2. Grant, I know, you get the distinct impression your work starts to interfere with your hobby
  3. On my screen 6 & 7 are invisible and 5 only partly visible. I would choose 3 & 4 having at least the merest look of being tree nailed. 1 & 2 are a bit dark to my taste
  4. Mati, Nothing fancy maybe to you, but I fancy your capstan! Looks marvelous
  5. Jan, You've got your work cut out for you. Will be following your progress
  6. I would go for the oposite side, forward, because pushing or pulling it won't bother the rowing motion, whilst rearwards, it may hinder the start of the stroke ...
  7. Ah Druxey, But zey are Frensh The French did things different from the English, so that would not be so strange... Furthermore, they would be standing and not sitting ... might be easier to push, at least you would be stronger pushing.
  8. Dave, So it does seem to be. It is a force to be reckoned with, but do not rule out the ultimate force: (Rear) Admirals. I would say: "Make the best of your alloted time ..."
  9. Fam, The picture of Le Cyclope does not give me a clear indication as I do not know which way is bow or stern. Your reasoning, however, is sound. On the other hand, since the oars - pulled or pushed - is to thick (but for the blade) to pass through the upper narrow part of the teardrop, thus, it doesn't matter much which way it will point. This as far as my two cents go ...
  10. Fam, Great explanation, thanks. Even a slow advance is some progress. Looking good.
  11. Looking forward to new developments. Glad you sorted everything out. Unfortunately I can't get that issue of the Popular Science Monthly, any chance on a copy of the article by Capt. E. Armitage McCann?
  12. Michael, Incredibale, I couldn't believe my eyes at the size of those sparkplugs. Don't know whether Judy will be glad when she sees that cut Corian board ... Take care driving, and best wishes to Judy
  13. Cristiano, A lot of small items is more fun to read about then one big item. So keep them coming!!
  14. Looking good Grant. I would go for tree nailing, even filling holes would give a realistic look.
  15. Very neat and crisp carving. I love those sharp lines you establish It may be so, but you still need to do it, and get that result!!! Superbe!
  16. At least we know you are not snowed in ... Thanks to other topics, we'll be waiting patiently - as far as we can be...
  17. Popeye, Can't you get an overhauled engine ... I used to replace my mini engine when it was about 100000 miles and used an overhauled one. They run quite merrily I must say, and are a lot less expensive compared to their newly born sisters/brothers. Alternator, coil, starter motor etc, I took from the old one, which saved a few bucks ... and I took off for another 100K miles ... those high rPM's on those engines didn't do them much good, though it was real fun driving!!! Took corners like it was a hoover
