  1. It's been a while ... not much time for modelling, a lot of time wasted on work ... but ... this evening I fitted and fixated the for'ard superstructure. Guns are still loose - bit like me ... loose canon - net step will be the rigging of the funnel, after that put on the rear funnel and rigging it ... she'll be decorated for X-mas All the stanchions are mounted, so when the furniture has been rearanged on the deck, I can pull the wires for the railing ... getting somewhere ... darn, nearly forgot the picsies
  2. As Mark wrote, it is becoming quite futuristic ... very nice lines that way ... good to see you back at her
  3. ??? I think I'd better not comment, since it won't be build related Your hand job turned out rather smooth, Jack. Colours seem OK. I found on my models, considering the size, I could have mixed in some light grey to make them less "hard", more in sync with the scale
  4. ONLY ONE SINGLE PICTURE!?!?!?!? In a year's time ...!? You have been on vacation mate. Must have been well worth it for leaving such a sweet model gathering dust ... Hope you did have a good vacation ... that you are well rested for new model challenges ... I'm looking forward to see more of this wonderful model and learn how you got the genie in the bottle ... Cheers mate
  5. hope she feels better soon. Diabetes is a bitch to deal with ... (no pun intended) give her my best wishes and a speedy recovery
  6. That's for Europeans, OC. The American Brethren do not follow the churchy calendar, they have a commercial calendar ...
  7. I think I'd rather go for painting aftwerwards. although I do not use the heated stanchion method, I still paint afterwards ... I know ... my build is somewhat smaller ... a lot when I see those stanchions. However, on the Smit Rotterdam & Nederland I did paint the stanchions afterwards ...
  8. What do you want to look at ... it's easy for me to say do this or do that, but you are the one whom has her on display ...
  9. Is there ...? A pair of flat beaked plieers would do the trik, saves time not making the jig ... I prefer this type when doing jobs like the stanchion one: gives you some more space to work with the iron ...
  10. Lou beat me to it Steve. You can build entire sections that way. If you silver solder the railings, you do not even have to fear for melting the soldered joints, since your iron won't be able to melt the silver solder ...
  11. You've got far to much time on your hands Danny!!! Lovely build though ... especially for the time it took you ... but 4.5 days and not yet finished ... the base is mandatory!!
  12. What has the second to do with the pictures in the first I want your photographs Where's CMB located? website? I do order from the UK, although that might be less frequent in future ... <sigh>
  13. That is marvelous, wouldn't have thought about Domanoff's variable speed control, nice touch that one
  14. Spiffy mate ... can hardly see the damage. Nicely done OC. You could add a drop of thick CA to flatten it out even more ...
  15. You in this build log ... I found this in the digital librairy: Turned out real good the gudgeons, did you put a brass nail in the oposite side too, or will you make a rivet from the nail?
  16. There is more ...!?!?!? Although little, it shows much, the more choices one gets, the harder it is to choose. You should have stuck to one Sam. Since you already have precious little time to devide between better half, bench, TV, Scamp Trailer (whatever that may be), work, and your build, you shouldn't introduce more variables to influence your decision making skills By the way. I like the way you've secured the guns, backstay looks from this side very well done For the shearing of your rats ... she is still under construction, so you've got some lee way, the buggers may still be a hairy bunch
  17. Ah yes the metric, and imperial measurement systems, you could have added the Japanese system (shakkanhō) too, a Shaku here, a Bu there ... marvelous save. I'm glad you kept the hull in one piece, and your deck attached to it. The details on your door will be visible from a distance, which I like for an RC, else you might as well have left them in a single colour ... I might have made myself a new aft boat deck from some 3mm ply ... I wouldn't want to take the risk you took. It usually turns out the other way with me ...
  18. I think I'll stick to the part with Mr Jameson ... although, my evening will be filled with work ... better wait until I'm ready ...
