At this time I 'd like to clear a misunderstanding: The Admiral does not have a strong opinion whether the hull should be painted or not. But if it does get painted, she has dictated the colours. So our options are still open! 

 

Back to the boat: I replaced all the screws with wooden nails dipped in PVA. It was a good time for this repetitive task, as I was able to work in the house and did not matter how tired I was. I forgot to take pictures though.

 

Then, I filled all the gaps with filler. The larger gaps were also filled from the inside. This time I used Osmo filler, beech colour. I had not used it before. It is ok, it sands fine but it dries incredibly fast. So the hull looked something like this:

I only found time to go back to the boat today. So, I started sanding the hull. I used 120 grit initially but then went to 80 grit. After the bulk of the filler was removed, I used carpet knife blades to scrape the excess wood. It went largely ok. Some edges need a bit more attention and lots more sanding with finer grits is needed but it is getting there.

Yes, I love to realize some details ( I have on my mind), considering how to get them done, surely its more easy with a scratch build being free of a must, in sticking to plans. As I already mentioned to Eric in the mails before, the build is going to get on again, but momentarily cooking on a very small flame.

Also many thanks for your good health wishes. Marianne and I (both over 70) are healthy and looking forward to be vacinated some time this year, problem is the lack in vacination dosises here, and they are not through with the over 80-ties first group of prority

Hi Bill,

the  Laeisz P-Liner Peking is of identical build to it`s sistership Passat. Therefor  a Kit of the Passat (for example Heller in plastic, scale 1:150) could easily be  named Peking with appr. decals

Update:

"Mississippi Lady"  is finaly completed after 12 days, faster than I thought it would be. Christmas present for my grandson (3years) is ready well in time. The first trimming in the garden pond, checking the waterline and a short trial with the drive and sternwheel was full to my satisfaction.
