This for sure,......the work is a miniature marvel !! -
Superb artistry skill set displayed here......and being a land lubber,... I find those seas fearsome and can feel the onset of sea sickness just by looking at them.

Is there a true POF kit in the market?
Ponto replied to Ulises Victoria's topic in Wood ship model kits
... that looks fairly impressive! Is there an English version for the site offering more information? JP -
I am in awe of the details achieved with these naval kits......and look forward to checking in for the updated progress. The last few plastic logs I've witnessed with all the photo etch details may have started in irresistible itch that I cannot resist.... damn!!!!

I'm out in the hallway peeking thru the door often and enjoying this build... and I am intrigued by the photo etch parts and the skills needed to work with such tiny pieces!!! ....what puzzles me is how does one access all the nooks and crannies when it comes time to paint the vessel ? JP

Mike, I admire your tenacity with the questions surrounding the history of this vessel......I just stumbled across this log and your efforts are to be applauded. Looks like I've been out of the loop for a while but it's nice to see someone jump into the fray with another Euromodel kit. I agree with your commentary over the quality as well as the shortcomings offered by the Le Renommee kit and look forward to future collaboration as your build progresses. JP

Thanks Mike and Simon for the very kind comments. The likes are also very much appreciated. It is onto the bowsprit now as the rudder will be left 'till later (I knocked it off after carefully installing it a short time ago.) Just to be different I'm considering building and rigging only up to the first mast tops. I have other builds calling out to me...... JP

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
