  1. Lifeline ---- I really like that and will use that suggestion for my ladders. I know my last build has a few 'spare parts' rattling around in the bilge
  2. Thanks all. I love the color of swiss pear so that's what the decks shall be. I think it will offer a nice contrast with the exposed beams. Thanks for the heads-up on the grates, Ben. In spite of your kindness, we will not be discussing the floor at this point. I can, however, guarantee that ebony is not in the running.
  3. Update time! At the risk of letting the cat out of the bag, I've completed the margin planks and waterways for the gun deck. As they are to match the decks, I used Swiss Pear 1/16" stock supplied by Jeff from Hobbymill. Beautiful stuff, cleanly machined. I used the laser cut, kit-supplied basswood parts as the templates. Proud to say I now have the beginnings of a scrap box: Before we get to the actual decking (and Ben's legendary Great Cabin checkerboard floor), there are a number of hatches, gratings etc. that need to be tackled. These will be next on the docket. Hope the coming change of seasons will treat you well no matter your hemisphere.
  4. Perhaps few will notice a particular detail like the stairs. But in the end, all these little bits come into play in the totality of the ship. Besides, much of what we put into these models is to please ourselves. We all tend to pick on ourselves for the flaws we know are there. So take some time to sit back and truly enjoy the small things we've accomplished. By the way, the overall tones you've produced thusfar are terrific.
  5. Yes, I thought you would cut it out. Just surprised to see the wale run into the port.
  6. Holy cow!!!!!! Unbelievable. My hat's off to them --- and to you for asking them!
  7. You're really motoring right along. You have more patience then I do on these reworks. Question --- on those first two of the second planking, is there a reason that last gun port is falling under the plank? I'm looking at the flow of the first versus the second planking and there seems to be quite a difference in the two.
  8. Richard - I used the pounce wheel method as given in Gene Bodnar's coppering tutorial on the home page. As for those nails in the kit, I honestly can't remember what I may have used them for!
  9. Not Waterloo my friend.......just a bump in the proverbial road. You'll nail it.
  10. Nice, crisp work on getting those blocks deployed. Looking forward to the erection of the mast!
  11. It looks as if the lines are taking care of themselves nicely (with some help from the builder). Very creative on the photography! I'm smiling for you.
  12. Must be the oscillating spindle sander. Nice work, mate
  13. Grant is the guy with the spare filler. Here's that 200Kg. drum he bought last week: http://modelshipworld.com/index.php?/topic/163-hms-victory-by-grant-dale-mamoli-scale-190/page-63
  14. I'm with Grant. Looks great. I just may have a jar of filler around here somewhere
  15. Nice touch on the pear capstan cap. Guns, of course, look spectacular!
  16. When you finish her, stick on a label somewhere saying 'Rattle OK' so you don't go crazy 15 years from now trying to figure out what it is
