I believe so. Went through enough gyrations getting some of the final rigging lines in. You have much to look forward to!

From where I sit, it's a chain going through a reinforced hole in the hull

Yes, getting her thinned on the inside took some time. But you can handle it. As always, patience! I was looking at mine today and thought how nice she'd look with capstan bars. Maybe next year if I open the case and (finally) add the nameplate.

Shortening by a foot was my exact thought. Was hoping you'd reach that same conclusion yourself. Someone else will chime in, I'm sure. Decisions, decisions

An interesting site.....thanks. Now, what are your plans on the capstan bars......have you gotten any other input? There is a modern day photo of 'crew' manning the capstan bars on HMS Rose on this link: http://www.tallshiprose.org/info/tour/quicktour/capstan.html She's a 20 gunner

I haven't checked any references Richard but the just 'look' a little too long. I realize the belfry is only lashed to the deck and can be quickly removed but it looks right now that crew would be jumping over the gun carraiges to turn the capstan. Again, just my 2 cents.

She's right up there to your usual standard (terrific!). Good idea leaving off those bumpkins for now. Have fun with the ship's boat. It's a cool project in and of itself.

Really top rate. The painting alone had to be a test. Good choice on the new background.

Glad you got her home safely. Let's see now........ with 2 builds on the board and two lurking (very) nearby, I'm wondering if Popeye is getting jealous!

On a wooden model, it is a good practice to pin the pin rails, channels and usually the fife rails so that one doesn't let go during rigging. I'm really not sure if it's necessary on plastic joints. Somebody must know !!

Thanks to all for the comments and 'likes'. BEN- turnabout is fair play. Of course if I work at my usual (slow) pace and in summertime mode, you may just stay out in front for quite a spell.

Great to see your progress on QAR. And an added bonus with the sloop to boot. Great choice/rendition on the bottle there! Incredible stuff.

Amazing what a 'sophisticated' jig can do for you. Couldn't agree more with Harvey's comments on pinning the rails. Some of us have learned that the hard way

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
