  1. Seat belts.. novel idea. I don't recall outside of the US, anyone except the pilots in our -34's and -53's using them. The crew sure didn't. We just hung on for take-offs and landings. For a hard landing you knew was coming, lay on the floor (head towards the stern) and hope for the best.
  2. This ship isn't dead, I've just been busy. Seems real life is in the way and also some reworks of things I've found I'm not happy with. But, I think the ship problems resolved and once I've laid down some hull planks, I'll update things.
  3. Hi Mark, Welcome to MSW.
  4. A stunning model and a perfect case to protect it. Well done, David.
  5. Not yet that I'm aware of. Some of the wood companies on this side of the pond sell wood in manageable sizes but not much in way of what we traditionally use
  6. Welcome to MSW. I don't think Harold Hahn lived in Arizona as we was out of Ohio. Strange that someone would dump a pile of books on a road in a neat stack and leave them there. Was there anything inside the other books like a plate (paper) with the owner's name?
  7. Michael gave some good advice. As far as posting questions, post them where you think best. If it's in the wrong place (say a question on rigging guns is in the rigging area) usually one of us moderators will see it and move it to the right place. Also, anytime you have questions and are hesitant about asking where to look or post, PM a moderator. We're here to help.
  8. Your stove is a small masterpiece. To look at that finished model, one would never think it was made of wood.
  9. I hope she appreciates the sacrifice on doing your part.
  10. That is some impressive research and findings. For some reason, those shelters remind me of WWII submarine pens by providing shelter all around.
  11. Sam, If you're not getting any responses, you might try posting your offer here: https://modelshipworld.com/forum/41-traders-dealers-buying-or-selling-anything-discuss-new-products-and-ship-model-goodies-here-as-well/
  12. John, There's more resources here than build logs. If you need help and have specific questions, have a look in this area: https://modelshipworld.com/forum/12-shop-notes-ship-modeling-tips-techniques-and-research/ Each category has tons of Q@A and often a quick search using the search feature and the settings within will get an answer. It may not be specific to your model but the answers may help. There's also this area which is for general (not a specific model) that can provide answers: https://modelshipworld.com/forum/58-general-ship-model-kit-discussions-not-build-logs/
  13. Incredible detail work, OC. Pity that most of it will disappear.
  14. I do hope that you will put some photos in the Gallery, Steven.
  15. I think lazyitis has hit many of hard lately myself among it's victims.
  16. From a view of accuracy, details, research, and building... this is at least museum quality. Maybe higher.
  17. Sorry. Misread the post and thought maybe that addy was viable.
  18. Kurt, That web address shows "domain expired".
  19. Russ, Have a look at the build logs here on MSW also. They will be a big help.
  20. Here in the States, the participants who ride the horses own them. Same for the artillery (though some are owned by the whole crew). I noticed in the few re-enactments I've been to, while there was artillery, there usually weren't horses to pull them. Uniforms are made by them or their wife or mother. Weapons, other than rifles/pistols, such as swords are either bought or made by them. If you get a chance, go to a re-enactment. It is indeed a way of life as during the summers they travel quite heavily all over the country. They are a friendly bunch so do pay a visit to their "camp". Usually, one evening is devoted to a "ball" with everyone in period dress. You may or may not be able to get into the ball depending on the group and venue, but it's definitely worth going and watching from outside.
