American Wrecker Truck by kpnuts - Italari - 1/24 - PLASTIC
mtaylor replied to kpnuts's topic in Non-ship/categorised builds
You could be right, Denis. I was thinking Steven King "Maximum Overdrive" or maybe one the "Mad Max" trucks. -

Welcome to MSW. Actually many of use either adapt something for bending (like a curling iron or soldering iron) or do use tools designed for ... maybe not as nice as that one though.

Sea Witch 1846 by Zooker - RESTORATION
mtaylor replied to Zooker's topic in - Build logs for subjects built 1801 - 1850
There's quite a few logs that deal with restorations. Use the keyword "restoration" in the search feature. Some of them are pretty simple and others are really in depth. -
Buildlog is gone

If the photos were "links" to another site, they may not have been visible when went through the indexing. Some sites have shut down foto sharing even though they are a photo site. When you re-start your log, upload them to MSW. -
I do the same thing you do, Chuck.. add an "enter" one or two times to add space. I have Firefox as well as Edge and Chrome. They have a slight difference in how things appear. Firefox did a couple of large updates and I'm not sure what was affected.

On the plank shrinkage... did you glue them down wet? Usually, if they're pinned into place while wet, when dry they fit together very well.

No worries, Mark.

I moved this to the proper area for it and added the tag for Chris Craft. :Could you add a tag with the name of the kit manufacturer?

True statement: "There will be blood". As for trimming the wood, would files or sanding sticks work for getting the pieces to fit together? I do that a lot as I cut slightly larger and then file/sand to fit.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
