  1. Looks OC. Unless this bird is factory fresh, I wouldn't worry about the prop decals that came off. In real life, they didn't last long.
  2. Welcome to MSW, Daryl. Steven gave a great link that will help you choose.
  3. I'm in but I will probably be late. I need to remember where I left the popcorn machine.
  4. Welcome to MSW, Kimsubby. I thought the same thing Steven did when I saw your post.
  5. Up until fairly recently, I believe they pulled a lot of their designs came out of the thin air. If looked somewhat like a ship... box it and sell it. I think the Internet has brought about a lot of change in the ship model industry as buyers are more aware of what's "real" and what's "real in the mind of the designer".
  6. What the others have said goes for me. Just wow... beautiful work.
  7. I honestly thought it was bigger... until I saw the glasses. Holy cow. It's even more incredible.
  8. Welcome to MSW. Do think about a build log as it's a good way to get help and meet other builders.
  9. We do have topics for "Restoration" in the scratch area. There is one going on for an old galleon. The easiest way to find them, is go to the Scratch Area and in the search function (upper right hand side) use the keyword "Restoration". Before hitting the search, re-click on the word and change the settings to "this forum" and "content titles only".
  10. Have you tried contacting Cunard? They seem to be mostly shut down but apparently there is a fair amount of office staff working.
  11. As I understood about the chests and why none have been found in any sites, was because the chests were the individual property of the rower. They stored clothing, weapons, etc. in them. But it may be right that sitting on the rib was the way it was done. No matter which way you go, no one can prove you wrong.
  12. Yes, Piet in the log for the ship his father went down on during WWII had photos, etc. about this.
  13. Beautiful model, Vaddoc. Thanks for letting us follow along.
  14. With the strap/chains in the notch, a small dab of CA or epoxy will hold them in place. Note that some vessels also had a thin wood strip on the edge to keep the strap/chains in place in addition to the notch.
  15. It's become a world wide problem not only for artifacts. In the Pacific, some WW2 ships have been totally destroyed and carried off by those who can sell the steel. In this case, the steel has no radiation from the atomic bomb tests while now all steel has some traces of it.
  16. Get one of the monks to give you a bottle of wine and loaf of bread along with some absolution. You'll be fine.
  17. There is a point where the pilots and ground folks do cross over. For us it was blade tracking. Even though some of us enlisted were qualified to turn the heads we weren't allowed to taxi or "lift" the chopper until two pilots checked us out on it. But that was "operational" not maintenance.
  18. I hadn't seen that one, it is huge. I thought your link might have to the Yamato until I clicked it.
  19. Guy, it might be quicker to PM him. He doesn't have any photos in the Gallery that I could find.
  20. Mario, what Dave said also goes for the rigging. You say the drawings don't match the model.... your choice then. Pick one. Or, do a Google for "schooner rigging" (which is what I'd do) and use what you find there. I would like to think there's some rigging plans or "how-to's" out there.
  21. I"m unable to answer your question as I make my keels out of one piece and "fake" scarf joints where needed.
  22. Looking great, Steven. One suggestion.. do not but Gene Krupa or Ginger Baker on drums to do the beat for the rowers.
