  1. Just a bit of trivia... the Air Force Museum in Dayton has their original wind tunnel and if I'm remembering right, two of the brother's planes. The wind tunnel does (or did) have everything needed for testing. Most of the wind tunnels today are really just bigger but still take the same measurements.
  2. Whew... for a while there, I thought maybe something from Steven King.
  3. Hello Dave. Welcome to MSW.
  4. I'ts been wonderful trip seeing this come together and so well done. Thanks for letting us into your shop.
  5. I think you're right about about the rare build log on these. I think I've seen maybe 4-5 over the years. Seems two are for museums. One was completed and there's another one going on that hasn't had much posting of late.
  6. I have found a place fairly close to me that sells boxwood. I'm planning on calling them next week, though I might just do a quick road trip. https://www.cookwoods.com/collections/boxwood-castello
  7. That seat looks great. Almost too great to be inside the model. Take it out and set it next to the bird with the story being... seat maintenance.
  8. Old... a very old one. Have a safe trip.
  9. I'd suggest you go here: https://modelshipworld.com/forum/24-wood-ship-model-kits/ This area is for the indexes to the various logs. You can, from here, down load a list of all the kit build logs on MSW (top of the first page).
  10. Hi Phil, Where AB Hoving's tutorial? If it's here on MSW, it might be a good idea to pin it in the proper forum.
  11. Those final pictures are just beautiful and really show her off, Eric. As for the feelings of when a ship is done, someone once said it's a bit like "empty nest syndrome" when the kids leave home. A sense of accomplishment and usually followed by "what's next?".
  12. Since you're still working in there painting and whatnot and how hot it is, I was thinking you were going to tell us you bought the A/C. But then, that would be my priority.
  13. I saw that too, Edward. And winced. One would think we'd have an easier time. It was what... a year ago and one of the wood places said they like 10 pallets and were trying to get rid of it?
  14. Kits have certainly come a long way since I was kit. Love the detail.
  15. I love the candy gold you've used. Haven't seen anyone doing candy colors in a long time.
  16. Bill, I suggest you ask that here: https://modelshipworld.com/forum/21-painting-finishing-and-weathering-products-and-techniques/ You'll probably get more answers and not highjack this topic.
  17. They could be the same as MicroMark buys it's machines from Central Machine. Having said that... be careful as MM's are bespoke in that the tolerances are tighter than Harbor Freight.
  18. No worries. I appreciate the feedback. The search will continue.
  19. I definitely suggest you get zu Mondfeld's book as a starting point. As others have said it's not 100% complete nor is 100% accurate. But it is a great starting point for research and terms. In other words, the basics. Then go on to bigger and better works once you sort out what time period(s) and nationalities you're interested in. If you're just interested in reading, then all the resources mentioned above are good. Books are addictive.....
  20. Do a search in the Kit Build log area. Most build logs have a ton o photos. And when you're ready, start a log as it's a great way to get help and make friends.
  21. Cool.. indeed there are good people around inspite of what the news says. I take it this Mosi will now be a part of a diorama?
  22. I wonder if it's operating system of computer or the type of PDF reader? I didn't have the problem as it just downloaded a pure PDF file here.
  23. The photos are mind-boggling, Keith. Pure food for soul of model building.
