  1. Wow. That's impressive. I suspect you made your daughter very happy.
  2. Welcome to MSW, Bill. We do have a few log in the Kit area of that ship. Feel free to start one of your own.
  3. Thanks for the comments and the likes. I am happy about it. Just a lesson for me to check not just the prints but the rigging drawings. And also... check logs of those who have been there.
  4. It does have that look of tar and age. So if that's what you're looking for, it's good.
  5. What did you use for the hooks, Nenad? You mentioned staples. They look very good. Lovely photography. As for another hobby... don't worry about it. Hobbies sort themselves out. I think I'm down to about 20 at this point.
  6. Beautiful work on the ship, Gaetan. And thanks for all the milling and machining tips.
  7. I don't believe for a minute there will be laughter at mistake and questions. We've all been there.
  8. The video is from a scratch builder here on MSW. Here's his log: https://modelshipworld.com/topic/20825-le-fleuron-1729-by-kudin-148-scale-kudin-andrey-youtube/ There might be english subtitles on it as he's started adding them at some point.
  9. Arild, I'd suggest that you start a build log in the Kit area. That let's us look over your shoulder and also gives you a way to get help.
  10. Just a bit of an update.... one is one of those little things just bug the heck out of you.. The plans show the main mast coat area with eyebolts on gundeck. It's bugged me since I couldn't figure out how the rigging would reach it. A bit of research on other sites, shows it needs to be on the weather deck. Much foul language ensued while fixed it. The major work was adding ribbing. I just need to add the port sills and sort out the stern and then... sanding.
  11. Lovely work, Per. I've found PE isn't for me. Just can't handle the tiny stuff even with magnificaton.
  12. Welcome to MSW, Dale. Looking forward to seeing your log.
  13. Well, when you pick a kit, open a build log. It's a good way to get help and meet folks. Also ask questions, if need be in logs for the same kits.
  14. What Chris said. And I'll add if a newbie is someone who's learning... we're all newbies because we never stop learning.
  15. See my last post to you: in Shore Leave and Non-Nautical area. In there are planes, cars, trains, buildings, etc.
  16. Welcome to MSW. Sorry to hear about the fire. I hope everyone got out ok.
  17. Indeed, you can do that. Also, your buildings can be upload in Shore Leave in the Non-Nautical area.
  18. As one of those in the trenches adding the tags, It's going to take a bit for us to go through all the build logs. They are a great way to find additional logs for a given topic or ship.
  19. There's a lot of on line places. I use some myself for translation many times. The ones suggested are pretty good. And I'll add one more: http://southseas.nla.gov.au/refs/falc/contents.html This is Falconers' Dictionary of the Marine. If you'd prefer to have a hard copy, look for a used copy (or new) of Wolfram zu Mondfeld's Historic Ship Models. I find it very handy to have in shop when I don't feel like firing up the computer.
