Is this a kit or scratch and the scale would be helpful. For the brass, take a diameter from the actual gun (if you have it) or from the plans. Order stock appropriately (slightly larger) and then center and round the stock which is why to go slightly larger. For length, measure from the plans. I'm assuming you're wanting to make scale guns instead of something generic.

Moab: I use Sally's also for many items. If there's no Sally's around, just use any beauty supply shop. Y.T.: This will get you started: https://www.sallybeauty.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-SA-Site/default/Search-Show?q=tweezers

White caulking?
mtaylor replied to Bare_Koala's topic in Building, Framing, Planking and plating a ships hull and deck
A quick search on "craft" (for Chris Craft) in the kit area might give you some ideas. -
It's great to hear that you recovered. Like others, I've had it and it's not a picnic. I love your paintings.

Cutting Planks
mtaylor replied to sfotinos's topic in Building, Framing, Planking and plating a ships hull and deck
I do what Downer suggests. There are sanders with miter gauges (small sanders from places like MicroMark) but they seem to "eat" too much material. -
Maybe this will help you get one started:

You can add those on the first post of a topic if you're the poster, Claire. If you're not the original poster, an admin or moderator can add them.

Hmm.. weird. I'm seeing them also if I go to IE11 instead of Chrome. OS is Win7. Very strange and very slow to load the page. Looking good now that I can see the pics but IE 11 loads all pages (not just this one) dead dog slow. Need to wrap my head around this. I'll also ask the Admins.

Just a suggestion... You could cut the one have made in half and fake the mounting to the shaft since it won't be seen. Then no need to make more. You could probably use the one you have for this. Unless there's more of the upper part that will be visible... then <shrugs> you'll have to make more.

Are you uploading them to MSW? There's a "Drag files here to attach, or choose files" at the lower left hand side. Hit "choose files". Once in put the course where you want the picture. Then use the left side of the thumbnail (high and hard to see) to insert the photo.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
