  1. It's great to see you made your way back, Aggie still looks good, even better with more rigging done.
  2. I'm pulling up a chair, Jack. Will you be going for the "original" or current" configuration? Now to go find a seat and some popcorn.
  3. Perhaps a dumb observation... I would assume that Grace's fleet was a mixed bag of local ships and captured ships, so they would have picked up improvements and new designs from the captured ships wouldn't they? I can't see design being static as history reflects that armies and navies continually upgraded using captured ships as a source of information.
  4. It looks like you would be having a blast with this from not only the challenges but the memories.
  5. Dave, look around for some corduroy. I've seen some with very fine wales that might help with the seats.
  6. Looking good, Nenad. You have your work cut out for you on those tiny bits.
  7. Words fail me, Doris. This is like watching Da Vinci or Raphael at work. The more one looks, the more one sees in the details.
  8. I can't speak for others, but use the prints that have been reduced to keep everything in proportion. Going back and forth between the original and the reduced prints can create all sorts of mismatches.
  9. I really didn't realize how large this was until I saw and then looked a second time. Beautiful work, aviaamator.
  10. I wouldn't think they would be iron at that point in time, but more likely wood that was shaped and carved.
  11. Seeing the young lad building away makes me smile. I'm seeing other logs where the children (both boys and girls) are building with dad. Wonderful.
  12. Great to see you and Bellona back, Mark. The LCVP looks like it would be a build-log all by itself.
  13. Is there a link to take a look this "internal live center"? I'm not sure what I'm seeing in the pictures.
  14. It happens to the best of engineers, Peter. I saw it too often when I worked in engineering decades ago before moving to IT. Seems the brain focuses on one problem and doesn't see other problems it's creating. In some circles, they would say you dove down the rabbit hole. Been down it more than a few times myself. I hope that going "global" for a bit will clear things up and you find you're not far off.
  15. Just catching up, OC. Nice work on the gammoning. The only way I've found to keep thread from doing what it wants is to draw it through a block of beeswax.
  16. Beautiful build, Jack. Yes, the movie would be great!!!!!
  17. Michael, Have you considered using car wax on the shafts? Since she'll be sailing, I hope you can prevent the rusting.
  18. I quite agree with Bob's tool rules. For the last year, I've been tossing catalogs away unread as I know what will happen if I open one. Yes, I'm a toolholic and in recovery. It's hard to resist temptation.
  19. From the photos I've seen of real copper hulls, at the waterline would be green. Below would be more like a old copper penny which is darkened copper.
  20. You are flying along on this build, Tom. And doing an exceptional job.
  21. There's been a few builds around here using that method but with starch instead of acetone.
  22. In the database is this: http://modelshipworldforum.com/ship-model-rigging-and-sails.php It might be worth a look also.
  23. Personally, I would sand instead of deepen the cut but that's just an opinion when I look at my own skills.
