  1. They were probably cleaned and repainted after use, Jaager. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that painting the guns was part of maintenance activities.
  2. Welcome to MSW. I recall what Chris said and there's build logs several large (by wargaming standards) of viking era ships here.
  3. Depends on the cannon material. Brass/bronze were usually left on finished. Iron (and this is one of those "depends" answers) painted or left bare (wrought iron ones not cast).
  4. Welcome to MSW, Ozark. By all means, start a build log. It'll be the best way to get help and encouragement with the build. As for general questions like glue... there's a plastic area here: https://modelshipworld.com/index.php?/forum/58-general-ship-model-kit-discussions/ And for tech type questions or research there's here:https://modelshipworld.com/index.php?/forum/12-shop-notes-ship-modeling-tips-techniques-and-research/ And there's an index which would point you to other builds: Explore the site, use the search function (upper right hand corner). Once you're comfy, ask away...
  5. Try putting a cloth on your lap from your belt to the work bench. I use some tape to hold the cloth to the bench but will hopefully soon, use something more permanent. I'm now catching probably 90% of the stuff that heads to the floor.
  6. Beautiful work on the hull and rivets. And congratulations on the new job opportunity.
  7. Sounds to me like you're off to a good start. And a build log is an excellent idea.
  8. What the others have said... why wait?
  9. Trig, I keep it separate so not to contaminate the "new" stuff. I also do what Jim says.. use it over and over until it stops working.
  10. To paraphrase the old TV commercial ad: "Is it the real ship or is it Memorx?" Seems like every build you do raises the bar, Dan. And they also show how to raise our own bars.
  11. You've got a better start than my first attempt, Lin. Go for it!!!
  12. Go to the top left of any page and you'll see your log in name. Click on the little down arrow and you'll get this which allows you to edit your profile: I'll note that you won't see "Moderator CP" in your profile.
  13. Steve, I think you did the right thing. Been there, done that as have others. Now to sit back patiently and wait for you to figure out what's next.
  14. Beautiful. I built that plane a long time ago and loved seeing the real one in person at the AF Museum when I lived in Dayton.
  15. Wefalck, I've used it on some flower pots outside. After 2 years in the weather, it's still intact. That last two years we've had extremes in weather here, the usual rain and snow but extremes in temperatures.
  16. Hi James, Welcome to MSW. I think most of us will always regard ourselves as "noobs". There's just so much learn and one thing is mastered, you look ahead and learn something new. This is good for keeping the mind sharp and MSW is good for helping fill in those gaps.
