Hi Leo Nice! Gotta love those gratings! I'm looking forward to your next update. Cheers Patrick -
Hi Dimitris Just caught up with your wonderful AV and it's really impressive just how good she's looking. I also agree with Nigel (Upstate NY) because it is always nice to see the ship's furniture having such an impact upon the overall appearance of the ship. The deck, also, adds heaps of value as well - nice and clean work. I was also pleased to see that the Royal Caroline is your next build. I reckon you'll ace it! All the best Patrick

Thanks Popeye and sorry I misjudged the finish line. I'm going well, except for an infection caused by the surgery. On antibiotics now. All the best! Patrick

Hi Denis I'm going to echo everyone else's comments about how good it is to see you posting again. Nice progress and I'd guess you'd soon be at the tail end of her? Cheers Patrick

Hi Dan She's a beauty and it's not hard to understand how she caught your attention. I, for one, will really enjoy following along. All the best and good luck for an enjoyable and successful build. Cheers Patrick

Hi Dan Wow! What an amazing amount of detail you're adding. It's almost as if you were on the real thing. Love the check chair, although I guess you're not putting it on? Or are you? Cheers Patrick

Hi Jond I love that second last photo of the 'cut and sanded' hull. Ain't no doubt about the beauty of a planked hull, especially with the symmetry of the planking. For me, it's one of those moments that reminds why I admire it so much when art and practicality come together to produce a sweet looking hull. Nice! Cheers Patrick

Hi Mark Looking really nice! I also gotta say that she's turning out to be a big model, as witnessed by your last couple of shots. Irrespective of size, beautiful work, as always! Cheers Patrick

Hi Mike Gun ports...don't you just love cutting them out??? Seriously though, they've got to be right up with some of the toughest jobs when building hulls such as yours. You're doing brilliantly, without a doubt. Nice! Cheers Patrick

Nice work Georgio! You know, your ship reminds me of Lawrence's model which you can see here: http://modelshipworld.com/index.php/topic/9268-annie-m-parker-by-canoe21-fishing-schooner-by-lawrence-scratch-build-scale-150/?hl=%2Bannie+%2Bparker, if you're interested. Both your models are impressive, to say the least. All the best! Patrick

Hi Lextin Nice job on the ratlines. I have no idea what the "Master Commission" is, though. Can you explain? Regardless of that, the National Guard sounds pretty darn exciting! Tough, but I'm sure you'll get through it all. Most of all...Good luck! Patrick

Hi Vaddoc I reckon you're taking to soldering the metalwork like a duck to water. Another great skill to have that's for sure. Nicely done! Cheers Patrick

Hi Dimitrus She's looking great, especially with the bowsprit and the figure and other gold decorative work added. Coming together rather nicely, I must say! I can also see from all the tiny detail work being painted, that there's still a long way to go, but at least it's enjoyable and satisfying. Cheers Patrick

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
