Hi everyone, especially those who commented and hit the Like button. Greatly appreciated! Sorry Carl - you're right. My problem is that I can't think fast enough and my honesty often gets the best of me!!!! Oh well... Anyway, tonight I painted the tender and added a bit more detail. But alas, no propeller yet! Just saying.... I hope you enjoy these photos. Cheers Patrick

Hah! You caught me out, Piet!!! Nope, no propellor yet. I was thinking I might wait until after it's painted and then try to put one on. Well, that's my excuse anyway!!!!

Hey Pete I'm indescribably envious of you and Kate! What a great way to spend your time! Welcome back, too. Cheers Patrick

Hi Bob Absolutely brilliant! I love the lady sailing her; that's a nice touch. The sails and rigging are also so realistic, that you'd expect her to go sailing right by you. Nice job! Cheers Patrick

Hi Mike Thanks....errr electric, I think! Trust me, I was really trying to think how to make a working one for the foresail, but promptly gave up. Too hard, I muttered...many times...! Cheers and I hope you'll soon be setting off on Maria for another nice day of sailing today. Cheers Patrick

Hi Cathead Great photos, especially of the large scaled Bertrand with a 'certain someone' in the foreground. It looks like you had a great trip. The photo of the wreck site was interesting and kinda sobering to think that wreck still lies beneath the waves. Thanks for sharing the photos! Cheers and all the best! Patrick

Hi Bob, Kevin, Mark and Carl and everyone who hit the Like button Many thanks for your compliments and comments! They're all greatly appreciated. Cog-3D printing seems the way of the future now. However, 3D Printing is really beyond my capabilities...I can't even manage 1D printing as my printer is kaput! Thanks and all the best Patrick

Hi Jesse The deck looks great, despite the collateral damage to the bulwarks. Hopefully the patching up won't be too much of a pain! Cheers Patrick

Hi Mauro It may be 'work in progress', but it's damn good progress, that's for sure! Cheers Patrick

Hi everyone Well, in a few photos of the full sized boat, I've noticed a rigid-hulled-inflatable tender tied up alongside. So, I had a go at trying to build one. Here's the result, complete with a teeny tiny outboard motor (albeit a simplified version of one), hanging off its transom. I still need to add a few more details, such as the steering wheel and the rope grab rails hanging off the sides of the hull. I hope you like it! Cheers and thanks Patrick

Hi BNoah I have to agree with Nils about the level of detail and the overall appearance of your Fram. She's a beauty! Cheers Patrick

Seeing as it's a working model, I would be inclined to serve them all. Saves wear and tear and hopefully work in the long run. My opinion, only, of course.

Hi Mike Nice job on the milling process. Those day lights are nice and precise, which was exactly the result you were looking for. Well done! Cheers Patrick

Hi Igor I love that photo of Lena between your fingers. Wow. It really emphasises just how teeny tiny she is. Nicely done! Cheers Patrick

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
