Hi Frank. Wow, you're really cracking along now. It's amazing what a coat of paint can do. She certainly looks totally different now. Top job. Cheers. Patrick

Hi folks! I hope you're all well. It's been a while since I last posted and some may think that I haven't done much. In fact, I've done a fair bit to the owner's suite, bathroom, dressing rooms, toilets, etc, most of which are really hard to photograph. I've also moved onto the fitting-out of the two tender garages on Shadow's Lower Deck. To these garages, I've added an assortment of cabinetry in order to give them a semblance of realism. I've also started on her two tenders. They're tiny and well, pretty rough at this stage. Clearly, a lot more refinement and detail needed to be added to make them marginally convincing, but hey, one has to start somewhere, don't they? I hope you like what you see in these photos. All the best! Cheers Patrick

Hi Vaddoc I think you may be underestimating just how well you're doing on this boat. From what I can see, you're definitely doing a fine job. The hull looks symmetrical, the temp frames look good, as does the run of the planks. Nice! A quick question though...are you intending to put RC into the boat so that you can sail her? Cheers. Patrick

Hi Denis Nice, very nice, indeed! That carpet monster, though... Enjoy the humidity (I don't envy you because I hate the humid weather); whilst we're in the midst of winter here, which is nice and cold. Cheers Patrick

Ok, Mehmet I give up. I just don't know how you do it. You make things look so easy, that it's ridiculous!!!!! You, Sir, are just a master model shipwright. Magnificent work. Cheers Patrick- 27 replies

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
