  1. I agree with all the comments - what a lovely dio. OC.
  2. To be honet the initial outlay cost and the (what I thought would be Loud noise) from them running - but mine is real quiet so no complaints from the admiral watching her evening TV. But I am so pleased now I have it - deffo an investment. OC.
  3. Thank you so much Mark, I think the key to it is Practice - practice and more practice, I can see the improvements from the first ones I did to these - guess its the same with all our building here. OC.
  4. Thank you so much for saying that Edward - very kind of you. OC.
  5. Evening all, next set of 2nd KGL detailed - washes and dusting then spray flat top coated with my airbrush. OC.
  6. My start on this will be Way off I feel - as my Dio is taking all my time as its going to be my focal point - even some hostorians interested in it. So for now - no physical imput here yet. OC.
  7. Great seeing you back my friend - fairing the hull was a real pain for me with my wood build - so hard to get a perfect smooth run of planks, its down to ourselves also how perfect we want to make it. Is that the first or second planking? reason I ask is, the First gives you more wriggle room if you wanted to try to sand down the high spots, also with the wale could you not just meet the counter the same way you have it but with more planks on the counter to match the extra wale planks (I assue you are adding) Not sure if that was of help Tim? its hard to come up with ideas some times unless one is building the ship your self. OC.
  8. She is coming along nicely - that primer looks perfect Alan - weel worth the initial hick ups. OC.
  9. Evening all, a small update in la la land - I have finished painting the trousers and done the shoe guards, also the rifles and been painted - just needs the hands and a wee bit of detailing before I do some washes the dust highlighting. OC.
  10. Those pieces look superb - the detail can't get over it. OC.
  11. That looks so dificult No way would I attempt something like this - Hat trully taken off for you with your build. OC.
  12. Thank you kindly Denis, figures are easier as they just a small areas - just takes a steady hand / magnification and good light, but larger subjects like your planes that need complex masking - is another field all together. OC.
  13. She is really standing out now - striking colour scheme Denis. OC.
  14. Evening all - a wee bit more progress tonight, the Captain has had waistband sash painted, also his Shako brades done in silver, the rest of the troops I have painted the water canister belts in a light brown to simulate leather, and I am now painting their trousers. OC.
  15. Thank you kindly, they only did that beacuse of one of the British Cavalry charges. OC.
  16. Wowzer - you going to populate all your builds Greg - bet you do. OC.
  17. Are those going top to bottom or around the funnels (I assume they are from top to bottom)? OC.
  18. Evening all, a few bit of work done this evening (some sanity amoungst all the madness) yesterday I spent over Three hours just painting the haversacks and straps, then this evening it was the turn of the Blue water bottles, Brown powder horns some tidy up work then some silver work on the Shakos and buttons. One fella a Captain has more fancy detail on his jacket - more buttons and braids, I picked that out uisng my finest brush. OC.
  19. Thank you for explaining that Craig, I guess for some sub assemblies where there is a uniform colour - assembling them priming/painting would be ok, but I can see the need to prime/paint railings first before attaching especially if a wood deck has gone down or other areas with different colours/shades of pant. OC.
