Hi Lawrence

Many thanks! I'm really enjoying building Shadow; albeit, the time I've had available lately has been pretty scarce. Hopefully, that'll change as things settle down over the next few weeks.

I've also thought about your comment about the large scale models, but sadly, I've resorted to building miniatures because I have no more room for the big models in my house. In fact, all my large RC yachts (including a 3 masted radio controlled clipper ship which I built when I was 17), are languishing in my garden shed! Sad, but true.

So, miniatures it is, from now on!

Have a great week.

Cheers

Patrick

  • 4 weeks later...

Hi folks

I'm back! Life's been really hectic over the past few weeks, which has meant that I've had little time for MSW, catching up with people's builds, or working on Shadow. Hopefully, things will ease off so that I can get back to some normality.

Anyhow, over the past few nights, I've kinda reached a milestone with Shadow - that being the completion of the construction of the major components of her superstructure. With that milestone behind me, I can now settle down to detailing her interior accommodation and the myriad of above-deck details. Fun times ahead!

I hope you all enjoy the photos as much as I'm going to enjoy catching up with everyone's build logs!

Cheers

Patrick

We l come back Patrick! She is looking nice and smooth! It is strange, I have been reading about people not having time to build around this time of year. Could it be a pattern? I seem to have had the same building break over the last few weeks. I'm looking forward to your inevitably fantastic interior detail! Have fun :)!

Hi Vaddoc - many thanks. The break has been too long. Hopefully, now that things are getting back to normal, I can look forward to catching up with everyone's builds; yours especially!

Patrick, Shadow is looking really great.

Thanks Steve. Lots of work still to go, though! Much appreciated, as always.

Hi Frank - yep, you're right. Sometimes, these 'time outs' are unavoidable, but at least once they're over, it's full steam ahead again.

Hi everyone!

Thanks for your comments and Likes.  Greatly appreciated.

Well.....she FLOATS!!!!!  Who would've thunk it, hey?  After doing some more wet and dry sanding and painting of the hull and superstructure last night, I thought I'd see if Shadow actually floats.  So, off I went to one of our garden ponds and, well, I'll let the pictures say the rest...

Enjoy  :P  :P  :P

Cheers

Great work!

Many thanks Nenad and Mark.

I also reckon she looked great on the water. Better than I thought she would actually.

Interesting comments about the frogs, Nenad. There's koi and goldfish lurking beneath the surface. Given that the koi are about three times the size of Shadow....the potential for a major incident is very high!

Have a great weekend.

Cheers

Hi Patrick,

you`re surely becoming to be a specialist for interlocking removeable sections on a model. A professional modelmaker company for extrusion dye formed resin section part kits could not have done it better, Great model and super work,  Bravo !!

G'day Patrick

Just catching up on various logs

I'm amazed again at what you can do. Keep up the great minute work and congratulations on a mile stone completing the hull.

Now the fun part starts with the internal works.

Hi Denis

Thanks!  I was also thinking about the ballasting at the stern; to get her nice and level.  The sad thing is that once the internal details are added, there's absolutely no way she'd float.  But, hey, it was fun trying her out on the water (probably her first and last time, though).

Have a great day!

Cheers
