Absolutely superb paintings, Jim. I am completely uninterested in the subject matter of most, but I would hang any of them on my wall, for the atmosphere and sheer skill. I have never tried to paint anything on an ocean. I've only painted canal subjects as I used to live on a canal boat and had no space for modelmaking.  While we rebuilt our historic wooden ex-working boat we lived in a 10 foot caravan with a small pond behind us. In that pond was an Airborne Lifeboat, but nothing I said to the ignorant yob who owned the yard would result in his raising it.

I used to know a chap whose work was used in several magazines of the time, Mike (M.G.) Carter. Your work has all the atmosphere of his work, but is less antiseptic. I love it.

Keep on posting.

Thanks. Alway fancied living on a Narrow Boat.

When I was still at school, (a few years ago) A friend's brother had an Airborne Lifeboat, complete!, bought ‘government surplus'? At that time (1950s) the Breakers Yard at Inverkeithing was selling Ships lifeboats for £1 a foot!

Re:  Uffa Fox (droppable lifeboat painting)

This past August my wife and I ended a spectacular tour of Scotland with a visit to the Royal Yacht Britannia now permanently moored in Leith near Edinburgh.

A visit to the yacht provided an unexpectedly personal visit into the lives of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip.  In Prince Phillip’s stateroom, on his bedside table was one of Uffa Fox’s books on yacht design.   Up topside on chocks was a Flying Fifteen sailboat designed by Uffa Fox.  The placard by the boat explained that this was Prince Phillip’s personal sailboat, that he and Uffa often sailed together, and had become personal friends.

We’d return tomorrow if it were not for this @#$& virus!  While we saw a lot, including the Tattoo, I’m sure we just scratched the surface.  I’d particularly like to visit the Denny’s ship model towing tank at Dunbarton, now sadly only a museum.

Everywhere that we went the people were wonderful!

Love it !

The strange thing actually is, that probably very few people would have really seen such a scene, traffic was not that dense.
