So today, added the loud speakers and started the tripod mast which takes forever as you have to get it square. The Pontos set offers a pre and post 44 refit mast and island (but the instructions are not clear about this), but the main yard is behind the tripod in pre 44 and they have gotten it in front so a bit of cut and past required.

He improved again, eventhough, we mere mortals thought he couldn't ... although ... that centre raft's strapping looks a bit sloppy ...

The remaining guns, the 20mm’s are now pretty  standard replacements, the 20mm quad borfors were just horrible to build as the barrels are mismatched, but the 5 inch singles are very easy and nice.

The kit plastic blobs are painfully inadequate

Yes, just tie it up, and you are done with that "chore" The blue does have something about it. She will stand out from the rest of your fleet.

Is it me or are the lenses of the searchlights a bit dark. I would have expected them to be more whitish/silvery. Lovely job on the ils though

The search lights are replaced and actually have little glass lenses which just look like toys to me, so I rather have them with a dark wash.

the three shades of blue is quite growing on me, it’s very dark but looks quite real.

You can almost see the little sailors run to their battle station!

That is the one thing I miss on this build. If it had people it would be beyond anything possible to believe, It is already possibly the best ship build I have ever seen!

Info please. In following your log (thanks for sharing all the good info) I believe you are using Pontos turrets for your twin mounts. Did you use the complete Pontos mount, barrels etc. or did you go with a combination of kit and aftermarket. I'm researching a future project and appreciate your experience with the Pontos set.

Thanks, Harley

Cheers, Harley<p
